Counterpoint: Zugzwang is an important part of games. And taking it away from town as a tool is handing scum another tool.damo666 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 10:19 pmNo restrictions.
If each side want to go down a stalemate path the result is ....
guess what?
Stalemate.
Stalemate => draw or no result or whatever you want to call it.
A threewise repetition seems a reasonable measure of both sides willing to accept stalemate.
Is there any reason this cannot be adopted as a standard rule or why this would not be a particularly unwanted rule. Seems harmless enough.

Missing the second z.
A situation where the next to move will be disadvantaged to do so whatever move they make.
Benny's point is valid but my counter to his counter would be that not implementing a stalemate rule is adding to town's armoury.
Anyone have a clue as to town/scum win ratio over all webdip games?

I agree with the stalemate rule. After 3 (or 2) days with no-lynch and no-kill it's a tie.
This gives a tool for the losing side to play with. If you think you can win make the first move, otherwise draw.

The stalemate rule was, in practice, sufficient to motivate the last Mini Game to proceed to an end state.
Therefore, I support the addition of a rule saying games end in a draw if such a stalemate is reached.

Mafiauniverse is debating removal of the term "lynch" from allowed game related posts, and from the game itself entirely.

I personally never understood why lynching the mafia was even a thing. it never made sense. like we catch al capone and hang him. na, theyd gun him down.

Hmm. I was always a bit uncomfortable with the term.
"has been hanged" could work, or executed.
leave it up to flavor, maybe

I know theres a bill in congress right now and were at a really crazy crossroads where its probably in super poor taste to be writing
brainbomb has been lynched
when
brainbomb has been eliminated
is just as effective

Re: wD Mafia Master Post
FWIW, ‘has died’ works just fine as well.
I would be totally fine removing the lynch concept from our games going forward. My WP has given me the luxury of not being offended by the term and if we want to progress we all have to do what we can, even if it is something small like this.

I am fond of the phrasing, "assisted worldly departure"
So it would be, "x has departed us with assistance".

An interesting and highly topical question, thank you Brainbomb for raising it here. I had noticed the debate at MafiaUniverse and wondered if we should also be talking about it.
I think that there is merit in removing the term "lynch" from the official rules posts and the language used by the GM, but at the same time, not sanctioning players who continue to use the term, for now at least, since it is something people are used to...

But we will need another word to represent the elimination by voting as kill is usually used to refer to the Mafia NK.Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 12:02 amAn interesting and highly topical question, thank you Brainbomb for raising it here.
