What are mafia games?

Mafia games are social deduction games where there are two different sides (the mafia and the town). The goal of the mafia is to kill all the town players while trying to blend in. The goal of the town is to deduce the mafia team and lynch them. The mafia players know who each other are, but the town players only know their own role.

The basic game has two phases. Day phases are where all players make basic accusations and all players vote for someone to be lynched. At the end of the day phase the player with the most votes is lynched and eliminated from the game and their role (or alignment as town or mafia) is revealed. This is how the town can eliminate mafia players, and also how more information is introduced into the game which can lead to better guesses as to who the mafia team is.

Then there is a night phase where mafia players talk amongst themselves in a separate chat area who they wish to kill. Each night the mafia team can shoot and kill someone.

It is a team game, so either the town wins or the mafia team wins.
