I was strongly townreading donny by play. The "scumslip" was so strong, and he was completely unable to explain his statement, even though I made a LOT OF EFFORT to try and give me any reasonable explanation. In the end it was my fault he got lynched because I allowed everyone to sheep me and blame me afterwards.

Yes there is. If he flips scum, we get at least one scum, and probably two scum. If he flips town we get one scum. We win either way. This is indeed the ideal situation to lynch a claimed Vengeful.
