Just so I'm clear a suicide bomber doesn't need to be lynched first. Just decide to end their game and take a town out with them in addition to the lynch?

Right. The thought I had is that he would blow himself up right like 1 minute to EoD, taing out himself and a town member, leaving either a no-lynch or a town member dying because only 1-2 votes were left valid at EoD.
