I find it helps to not think of it as sleep but rather extended naps. It means that the insomnia isn't quite as bad and you feel like you can catch up a little with just a nap

I used to have insomnia quite a lot. After you have children (specially one that wakes up every two hours to feed and change diapers for at least an year) you took every chance to sleep. Never had insomnia again.
