Hmm...That indeed looks like a crumb for Bolt Thrower more than for Lightning Rod.

Also, it was posted during the night, not D1.

I'd say it's at least weird.

If the role throws the lightning rod to some player, and Mafia has that role, it would make sense to throw it to one of their own, counting on there being a protective role in play that would save them, or maybe even having a protective role of their own.

I have rethought the Donny/emc/chaqa situation. I think the easiest explanation is that Donny was just unlucky in referencing secretary and was in fact town implying EMC almost certainly town and also Chaqa (his instruction post not making sense otherwise).

If we take this pov Vecna becomes suspicious. I also didn't like him disappearing (I acknowledge he gave an excuse but his 'drunkposting' reappearance looked very false (and I should know)).

I also have my suspicions about Neph. His posts have been very strange, quasi sacrificial in nature. Maybe he has a scum role that if lynched he takes someone of his choosing with him.

I think your reasoning on Donny is correct - especially if you look at the flow of votes onto Donny. The people who voted Donny early, up until vote 8 or 9, really look quite townie in how they do it. I initially thought that scum would be in the middle of the wagon, but I read all those characters and I really thought they were all pretty genuine and non-opportunistic - except for my grand read of Chaqa, but I have learned that was incorrect. I'm pretty sure that any scum on Donny were near the end instead, or were off on vanity wagons.

I really don't think Vecna is scum...

I was angry at xorxes failing to understand what is pretty elementary, namely that scum!emc would never claim a wild story. emc is an old hand at this and wouldn't unnecessarily complicate their cover story.

We are assuming the NK was redirected to foodcoats and failed, so would the scum performing the NK get a message saying foodcoats was not NKed?

I assume they would, but if that was brain, why would he say that he could not find food before figuring out that many other people got pretty much the same message. It looked like he was eager to divulge information only he had. I guess it could be fake, but seems a bit elaborate to do that.

Hmm. Weird that you're using something being "elaborate" as a reason why you don't think it's likely to have happened. If you're going to make that connection, then surely emc making up the 3p universal backup role would be more "elaborate," and therefore even less likely to be true?

Different circumstances. brain was spur of the moment after reading results of the night and getting his PM. emc had to come up with a story to tell Chaqa to explain his role, which was possibly all true except for the alignment. Unfortunately I don't know how the chat between them in the QT went, so I can't judge how spontaneous it was, how much time emc had to plan his answers, if he told him he was 3P too quickly before realizing the consequences, and so on. It's all mostly a black box, we only know the outcome but not how it developed.

Yeah, just wanted to clarify that foodcoats did not (in my opinion) appear to be saying his official role was "Bolt-Thrower," which is what I thought Jamie was implying, but rather "Lightning Rod."

I'm not sure how much it matters, except that "bolt-thrower" kind of implies you can target someone else.

Like, it never was really about mechs, but more about plausible motivations as scum or town or other? And how much that factors in to things. Mechs would be like sussing NK or block and stuff.

Not my ideal lynch, but I’m patiently against the EMC lynch right now and I think the scum team might be like brain, Dargo, Neph, Bismarck’

I think brain’s outrage at the webdip rules and Bismarck’s potential mod kill is faux outrage and he wants to get town cred for lynching Bismarck and make sure scum can’t go down by 2 OR lose Bismarck while also losing a viable mislynch in EMC.

Why does scum!brainbomb claim to know food's role at start of day, apparently thinking Commuter? That's something I have been trying to figure out unsuccessfully.
