I already said it was to see what happens.

Is EMC your absolute top scum read?
I scumread EMC, Neph, Bozo, and I expect a couple of the lurkers are scum too.

I think of my scumreads, EMC is the most informative.
I was going to get sarcastic about "only vote your top scum read" as a way to illustrate what I see as a logical fallacy of pursuing scum candidates serially. I'll just say it this way: we have to explore multiple paths simultaneously and do things that create information. Neph is not really a top scum read--I don't have much in the way to strong scumreads right now--but I think voting him right now maybe leads to interesting information.

As for EMC, I wonder if he was compelled to go all-in because of Chaqa outing him?
You think I'd commit this much as scum? I'm flattered.

This is scum trying to pocket and be on the right side of a wagon with fake or underspecified reasoning.

Youre seeing it as well EMC.

I was told my night action was unable to reach foodcoats

thus scum person who carried kill probably got that pm also.

and all night actions were refunded I assume?
This is really weird. You did not target foodcoats, but really got a reply you were unable to reach foodcoats? That would be some very unusual resolution because this is not how any type of role would normally work.

This is also a bad assumption

For the sake of saying this, I had the same experience as Brainbomb.

I'm assuming that what happened is that Foodcoats is the Lightning Rod, and we have a Jailor in play.

Nothing else really makes sense.
Really now? How odd of a design
There was a Lightning Rod, Vecna.

That's how a Lightning Rod works. It redirects your action from whoever you meant to target, onto the Lightning Rod, in this case apparently Foodcoats.

However in this case, if there was also a Jailor or similar, then they would be redirected onto Foodcoats, jail him, and thus prevent all other actions.

This was all explained in some detail earlier.
I know this Jamiet. Its just very unusual for the mod to tell you who you were redirected to.

That is not lightning rod canon at all. But it was later specified the role is also called differently.

If this helps any my original PM did not have the words "standing" or "faction" in it. Only the new one did.
Does your new PM also include exactly one other word, in between those two words?
I'm assuming worcej would provide either fake roles for scum to claim or examples of what a town role looks like if scum asked for one, so I doubt this will prove much either way.
As the GM of a closed setup I most certainly would not do the former of those things.

I'm hardly claiming it's going to be groundbreaking. :eyeroll: But, for example, we know now that The Marche voted to break a tie in favor of EMC and that Brainbomb voted to tie it back up. Those can be interesting choices to look at later.

Also, think of all the games where you feel the need to scumread brainbomb while he's town. Yet here you do not feel that urge. Why do you think that is?

Read my posts on his progression on certain people.

He is just positioning. He's not actually trying to solve. He is carefull. Tries not to piss off people.
Why does scum!brainbomb claim to know food's role at start of day, apparently thinking Commuter? That's something I have been trying to figure out unsuccessfully.
We are assuming the NK was redirected to foodcoats and failed, so would the scum performing the NK get a message saying foodcoats was not NKed?
I assume they would, but if that was brain, why would he say that he could not find food before figuring out that many other people got pretty much the same message. It looked like he was eager to divulge information only he had. I guess it could be fake, but seems a bit elaborate to do that.

I think you are seeing complications that are not there.
Well, I'm not a fan of getting bogged down in mechanics, so I may be biased, but this phase is already 75 pages long, much of which was consumed by you, xorxes, and others, trying to sort out a tangle of claims and insinuations. That's complicated enough.
Huh, I didn't read it as mechs at all. We are reading things very differently. Do you really read all of it as mechanics? That seems to be a very shallow way of reading what was going on, or like you just skimmed really quickly.

I agree it's shitty. When I GM M58, "unvote" will not be valid, and I'll be asking Peter to make a small amendment to the Bot for that game, accordingly.

It is largely focused on assertions about your role and Chaqa's, and Donny's, and sorting through a variety of implications for what those roles could be and what each series of events under different circumstances would mean. That's what I consider to be a mechanics heavy discussion.

If you still are a 3rd party backup, you could also just claim this to signal to scum that youre working with them by not outting donny's true faction
Why would I, I'd get the scumchat if that was the case.
All of you do realise this right?
Not if you lied about the alignment part and remained 3p with the new role.

Anyways, that was the old thinking.

What I got was a message saying "You attempt to [REDACTED] Foodcoats, but fail to do so because you cannot find him..."

So, it did not specifically tell me I had been redirected, as such, but I knew I had been, since the target of my action, as per my order to the GM, was Bozotheclown.

You are presuming his whole thing about commuter was just for show then? Since unless we have a third party jailer type of action, then he obviously already knows what happens.

The only way this works is if they were aiming at food in the first place.
