Re-reading I got it now, it's pretty obviously the initial letters. But why crumb 3rd party?

Good morning!

Re: M55: The Last Party - Game Thread
explanation of foodcoats' claim, and thoughts on reactions to said claim
I realize I have not been entirely proactive and, considering one of the two scenarios I envisioned for using my teslacoil (as worcej flavoured it) last night was that I would become clear, I should endeavour to be a better townmember.
I used my power last night because I figured it would get more complicated to decide if I wanted to use it later, and there were only two possibilities anyway:
1. I would die. That's not so bad - I would protect more skilled town players.
2. I would "pause" the play and give town another day. That's not bad, either. It protects skilled town players from the NK, "clears" me (even if you argue it does not), and makes the game harder for scum: they must choose to kill the clear, or a highly skilled player, or a suspected PR who is actually still useful (my power being a one-shot).
I crumbed three times - Bestial Invasion allusion, saying I'd be "shocked" if Donny was scum, and apologizing to xorx for "killing his buzz" - thinking it would allow me to clear.
There are a couple of interesting reactions to my claim, though the most interesting is Nephthys. Neph is arguing that I could be a scum lightning rod, saying that role madness is usually completely random. I don't know how people put Mafia setups together, but it's kind of ridiculous to say that anyone would build a game where you could have a Mason on both sides of the line or a town Strongman. Similarly, a lightning rod just doesn't make sense for scum. In fact, given the nature of the game, I think you'd want to make sure your scum team has abilities that are actually useful to it. The madness is that everyone has a role and the setup is secret, not that it is completely random to the point of resulting in possibly unplayable games or games that are unwinnable for one side.
I think that going at the claim this way is something scum does. You look for the chink in the armour and see if you can get your crowbar in there to drive the mislynch. So that does not look good for Nephthys in my opinion, especially as I have never been a GM or created a setup while Neph has, and I can see very clearly that you'd have to be an asshole GM to run a game where you give the minority team a power that blocks their core faction power.

This is not my experience of the Jailor; I don't think that's a standard feature of the role. It would make an already powerful role rather overpowered.

Food - this makes sense to me and I’m much more comfortable now with your claim. I agree scum is unlikely to have a lightning rod.
Time for work. I’ll have a few things to talk with you about later, food.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. My reads list was not based on Brainbomb's.BismarckAlive wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 3:41 amI find it fascinating that Foxcastle took what Brainbomb had posited, and had been backed up by Foodcoats, and did a 360 degree reverse to that to post his Wall. I look at this action and think: why? Lazy? Does Fox truly have an opposite view? And if that view is nowhere near certain, why put it out there?Foxcastle wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 8:58 pmI think the towniest players are Bozo, EMC, Foodcoats, Dargo.
Townleans on Demon, Summit, Chaqa, Vecna, Rdrivera. Probably Brainbomb. Xorxes is somewhere in my town grouping, probably stronger town than a townlean, but I’m less sure about him (by which I mean, he could be doing a good job as scum or third party).
Possibly scum: Bismarck, kgray, maybe Neph (that’s kinda a stab in the dark). These are very weak reads.
Nulls: Flash, Damo, TheMarche, SarahK, Jamiet
I have no speculation on third party, really. It could be anything.
Is he trying to obfuscate, confuse, and misguide? Are his Town reads his Enemy mates?
As more of an aside to your "why" question: EON reads lists used to be standard, but that's dropped off a lot. They were made so people could have a record of what townies thought after they flipped, and they forced scum to put markers out on their own teammates (or look suspect for not doing it).
Re: M55: The Last Party - Game Thread
Barely saying anything is sometimes scum indicative, when they lurk in the hopes that town will latch on to more vocal players for mislynches. "Not enough information" is often excuse enough to keep a player alive a couple extra days, whereas "lots of information" makes it easier to draw (or be drawn to) wrong conclusions.
But also, "not enough information" becomes a bigger liability as game goes on, which is another incentive to vote for you. So there's a big question: are you not providing enough information because you're just engaged with the game, or are you doing it because you're scum and hoping it will undermine town?
And there's no way to know if you're reading or not. If you want to prove that you're town, you need to engage with people, ask questions, answer questions with more content, and make statements about what you're thinking about a variety of players and situations.
But then, you've heard all this before.

Re: M55: The Last Party - Game Thread
I’m not completely sold on lynching EMC. If he’s town his role is really valuable for us. I’d much prefer we give any other town PRs with scanning abilities a night or two to prove him one way or the other.

An einstein flip gives us some good connections. Not only chaqa, but also donny, and he interacts with so many people. I WOULD say all the people he has +1'd, but...

Oh, and he hasn't answered, yet, the 'when did you know donny's role' question.
Re: M55: The Last Party - Game Thread
I generally agree with Damo on EMC-Chaqa, and having a side-chat sounds very much like a third party power, but why would they ever announce that? (Even as town, why would they announce that?)

Yeah the problem is we've only got your word for all of that, and you're being deliberately unclear about some of what you're trying to claim.

I find this entirely plausible and I'm treating Foodcoats as a very strong townread right now.
