That's mostly true, he left his vote on me (a very close counter wagon), and actually NO scum joined the counter wagons to save him.

I liked his hammering of Vecna.
I don't think the hammering itself was AI. The reasons he gave were pretty bad though, and the reasons he came up with after the fact were not the same ones he gave at the time.
