You go through phases playing mafia

New phase where everything is happening out of your league
Honeymoon period where it's such a fun and fascinating game
Prime period where you have a couple good games and being to think you're really good.
Divorce phase where you realize the game isn't actually that fun, and that no one is actually good at the game and it's a crapshoot and scumtells are a myth.
Then the woke phase where you still recognize this, and embrace it, and have fun again.

So many games we have been in and we end up in this quagmire

You're kind of an exception where you go through all these phases multiple times in a single game.

We (human beings) try to see patterns even when there is no pattern because it's more comfortable to us then a chaotic approach, hence the most useless VCA analysis that lead to town losing last games.
