Thank you to everyone who participated in my experiment. With 15 players participating, every player was selected between 2 and 8 times, with a good approximation of a normal distribution around the average number of selections, so it appears there is no statistically useful information to be gained from the results. As for reactions to my request, there was the obligatory criticism from Vecna and BunnyGo, with Vecna choosing not to participate.

I doubt any mafia member would include their 3 teammates in their "random" selections, so that may be useful later looking for the last mafia.

This was my logic. Every mafia is likely to include at least one or more of their team mates. Exercises like this provide them with a difficult choice as to how many of their teammates to include. Therefore, I extrapolated that people who used random generations (Dice, first 5 etc) are more likely to be scum as they can avoid this (small) conundrum

I cannot see how this wouldst make any sense. I wert asked to choose at random, and associating randomness with the rolling of ye olde dice rather than choosing names "randomly", that is what I did. And I hath to admit that I did not forsee that Bozo wouldst attempt to root out scum simply upon whomst they included in their lists.

perhaps it is my logic failing somewhere, but

I would not call it logic, but if I was mafia and my random selection happened to include all three of my teammates, I think I would change it if for no other reason than so that my teammates did not think it was on purpose.

Why have people choose 5 names and not 4? If it was 4, I would think your logic would hold against scum naming all three of their teammates, and maybe against including 2. Choosing 5, maybe they let 2 stay in. And why ask people to exclude themselves from their lists? That also just gives scum more cover to distance themselves.

Anyway, I think it's all so WIFOMy that it won't be useful. We're all experienced players in this game (I think), so I doubt anyone (town or scum) saw that and didn't see the point. How many players here would actually deliberately name 2 or even 3 of their teammates as scum?

This summation is quite clearly inaccurate. Despite being an honourable knight of Angonia, I doth not have much experience in such matters as these and quite honestly failed to see any way to draweth such conclusions from said experiment.
