Xorxes, yes they could die N1, but they would die at the *end* of N1. They can take the shot any time they want during the night and still get their second shot. Asking for the shot before the lynch is super poor play.

No danger. I just think forcing people to read me instead of bludgeoning them with a GM reveal is much more informative.

Ah, yes you're right. I read the role wrong. Still, I don't think a 50/50 shot D1 is worth the risk when compared to the extra information from the following phases. Assuming everyone massclaims, there's a 20% chance that the Vig will be targeted N1 (less if you factor in Doc, first mate and pilot). If we wait until D2 for the Vig shot, we'll have at least a 60% chance of getting scum.

If you're gambling so much on the massclaim, I don't want to double-down and have an extra gamble on the Vig shot. You're advocating for a very high-risk, high-reward strategy.

XORXES IS CLAIMING TO BE THE CAPTAIN LITERALLY THE ONLY ROLE IN THIS GAME THAT CAN BE VERIFIED BY THE GM’S.

I don’t understand why anyone would claim their roles in a mass claim in a situation where the guy pushing for it and who has ‘claimed’ won’t use his power to verify his role. Why? Why would you follow this?

Ask yourself, why won’t he verify if he is pushing a mass claim and is the captain role? It’s either because he CAN’T or ??? fill in the blank because I don’t see why the Captain claiming his role doesn’t just verify it. That is so fishy.

If he is mafia then guess what he just flushed out PRs and is getting away with it. If he is mafia he just made a huge play and won big. Think about that for a second.

If he is the Captain, then verify the role @Xorxes and I’ll claim mine and retract the vote obviously, but the way I see it you just pulled a huge fast one and got away with it clean.

I can’t believe anyone in their right mind would follow that.

With xorx pushing so hard for the mass claim and claiming captain (but oddly not verifying) he is far from town clear. Let's see...

REAVER
Most likely I guess, a reaver making a gambit to sniff out PRs in order to recruit. The downside is this play is probably more suited for D2 when there's already another reaver on the team and OG reaver can afford a sacrifice, but xorx is an intelligent player and this doesn't seem like his type of play.

CAPTAIN
Quite likely too, although revealing his identity and not getting GM to get him to three votes is weird. I don't know why he would be so reluctant...

MAFIA TEAM 1
Still has two more teammates and is more likely than reaver to make a D1 gambit, but in doing so his two teammates will be on the VT list attracting lots of heat and once actual captain CCs he's doomed.

VT
Could be a bold VT move (there's a term for it, it's on the tip of my tongue) to achieve mass claim, but Cop is the more practical option than Captain

BOUNTY HUNTER
Nothing to win, if his target is a PR he's basically could push them in lunches and if it's VT scum and reaver (post N2) won't go after him.

So what do you guys think, obviously if he verifies or actual captain CCs all cards are on the table.

@bozo - from my reckoning, besides the 6 people who have already claimed, there's 3 (including you) who have supported but are on the sidelines until a larger number voice their feelings. Another 3 that are hard against. And then a whole slew who haven't made their feelings clear.

I was going to claim my role regardless of any support for the massclaim. Claiming it protects me from recruiting by the Reavers, and I don't think it makes me more of a NK candidate than not claiming it.

I'm confused. How does claiming it protect you from the Reaver? If you get 'turned' and don't get your extra votes couldn't you just claim to have been roleblocked?

Ditto, with RDR and Jamiet (among others) on conditional though (either majority says yes, or GM confirmed X). It seems like it's more useful to Town, and if anything's broken (within the established rule-set) I believe it's better to break it and learn from it (as a whole).

I generally have a piss poor recollection of past games, but I would tend to agree that so far Jamiet seems more like how I recall him as scum than as town.

ND is an interesting case. His entire demeanor is different, and then he disappeared. Very suspicious.

Tom's absence is not unusual. Vecna and Bozo's absences are.

Peter and teacon seem much how I remember. Good feelings on both.

Bunny and Flavius are suspiciously quiet.

As far as absences... It is a holiday... with that said... Happy New Year to everyone (many of which are already in 2020 as I write this).

I'll tune in again tomorrow... same bat-time, same bat-channel.
