Finally! I've been reading to catch up and this...THIS is the first post that wasn't either vacuous or something I could have predicted would be posted prior to game start. Jeses...that was a lot of nothing.

OK, I'm still out of town visiting family and plans are in flux depending on kids. I'm leaving either after festivities tomorrow (if kids don't melt down) or before (if they do). So may not be around much until late on the 1st.

I would recruit either: a) my top scum read or b) kalel

Well, okay two things:

- Do you agree that Chaqa's responses to Xorxes' call for a massclaim were very hedgy?

- Do you think it's weird that Xorxes called on me to claim, and then asked me explicitly if I was going to claim VT? If he wants a real massclaim, what is he doing trying to call out in advance what he thinks people will claim?

- Do you think Peterlund has genuinely dumbslipped about the Reaver QT or lack thereof?

Still somewhat catching up, but with sleep the massclaim is looking less and less risky since I remembered this;

last game, I was town PR
Went and pushed RHK for lynch, until he claimed as PR
pushed Kit for lynch, succeeded, she flipped as doc
proceeded to get self modkilled

So yeah, massclaim ain't looking too bad hah

As for why you? I mean...it was something to post, but you also have a way of surviving.

Because I will be scum read for standing by my principles just as I will for now swapping over to it for this game. It's the same net result regardless from my perspective.

If GM's are not going to take the time to make it less advantageous to MC at this point, then why bother standing on principles.

This is my own opinion based on consolidating people's posts in the past: I have a way of surviving because I am usually an easy person to push as scum because of my tone in posting. I also usually have meh reads, so the threat is minimum. My successes have been more based on luck than actual skill.

Brazilian doesn't exist. It's Portuguese, if you want to differentiate, it's Brasilian Portuguese (and it's with an S, not Z).

I'm opposed to the massclaim. Counting the true VT s, the people who think they are VT s (backups) and scum, we would have 9 claims for VT. Add to that Mal and the bodyguard who likely would hide and we don't have a lynch pool that guarantees good lynches. We would lose to NK our PR s, and the BH would have excellent recruiting choices.

I also think that those who are guessing complex BH tells are wrong. It will be something easy for kit and Ike to find and spot.

I did re-read some setup this morning and you are right-ish on the count: we do have more people receiving VT PMs than actual VTs, so that inflates the count of that claim group to be 5 town (3 VT's and 2 backups) and then possibly 5 scum/3p claims.

Unless weird scum moves/claims, that narrows the lynch pool down to 10/20 players at the cost of PRs being identified.

That's a very good idea. As long as there are only nine PR claims (besides mine). If there are more than nine claims, it will be time to specify.

Why do people keep perpetuating this silly notion that massclaims "ruin" a game? If the massclaim solves a game completely, then the game was broken to begin with, it started broken, it can't be ruined. Otherwise, a massclaim is just one more tool to help us solve the game, just like copscans, docsaves, GM reveals, etc.

We're not guaranteed to win with a massclaim, so the game is not broken. The only question here is whether a massclaim is beneficial to town or not at this stage, and my impression is that it is, so I will start it when I finish catching up, unless I read something in the meanwhile that makes me change my mind.

Highlighting that one sentence because we need to be better about ensuring these type of situations won't happen. As a community, we focus a lot more on mechanics than actually hunting and this won't be fixed until the mechanics elements of discussion during the game is eliminated
