What if their cover role is something like innocent child, or Wednesday Frog? They won't claim that role, I'm sure, so they have to make something up or... oppose the massclaim idea. And if they claim something like anti-encryptor they just remain in the lynch pool.Kitsune wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:53 pmXorxes, the Mafia-scum already have cover roles remember. They may lie about them, but I don't see a reason they would. This is mostly useful to winkle out 3P - which is admittedly useful as lynching any of 3P at D1 would appear to be pro-town.xorxes wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:46 pmExactly my thoughts.bozotheclown wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:33 pmI understand that some people have expressed that they do not like the idea of mass claiming because they think it adversely effects the quality of the game. However, in my opinion, town should not be expected to play suboptimally because some players prefer playing without a mass claim, the setup should prevent town from benefiting from a mass claim if the goal is to keep a mass claim from "ruining " the game. I believe a mass claim would still benefit town with the current setup, since the assassin winning does not prevent town from winning also.
The assasin being able to kill makes the strategy a little more costly possibly, although not necessarily (it depends on what roles they have to kill), but it still looks like the best strategy as it forces all scum to commit to a role early and before consultation.

Re: M50 Apocalypse Meme Redux
This is an interesting idea, and would naturally occur at EOD, when whoever was about to be lynched would claim a role, regardless of whether they are town or scum. The problem is when this happens at EOD, the lynch usually gets deflected to a town who is not online at EOD to claim a role. If we could force this early, we would give the next player up for lynch a chance to claim a role. It would be impossible to get through everyone in one day, but I sill think the idea could be useful. For instance, if everyone agreed to vote by 24 hours into day 1 and make the vote leader at 24 hours claim their role, we could decide if we still want to lynch them based on their claim. If they claim a verifiable town role, we move onto the next lynch candidate, and that player has a chance to claim. The one thing we want to prevent is town with verifiable town roles getting lynched at EOD because they were not online to claim after someone else claimed to avoid a lynch.KalelChase wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:50 pmWhat I looked up called it Popcorn. Suggested we point the finger at the most scummy, but one at a time. The scumlean would claim in order to try and clear themselves. I'd be in on this as I like the massclaim concept.dargorygel wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:40 pmI'd be interested in a vote thing, though... like someone started yesterday/today.
Even if we don't do it 'causally' it would make sense for any 2nd place wagon to claim after a lynch.

You don’t want to catch Ricky for free? What’s wrong with you?
Re: M50 Apocalypse Meme Redux
I haven't read anything yet, but I presume we're talking about massclaims again?
Re: M50 Apocalypse Meme Redux
It won't prove that at all.

##GM Note
Correct. The "gun" is used as a NK, as stated in the roles doc.
The link from last game is the same as the one provided this time, on the first page.
Re: M50 Apocalypse Meme Redux
Lol apparently both Chaqa and I have troubles with links, sorry all.

The links provided on page 1 of this game do not work for some reason.
Re: M50 Apocalypse Meme Redux
No, because in addition to saying the phrase, they have to tell the GM that they are activating their power.
If they say the phrase but they don't PM the GMs, nothing will happen. You have a single-use ability to immediately end the current day phase by PMing the GMs your intention and then

Re: M50 Apocalypse Meme Redux
No because of the part about the hammerer having to PM to GM with their intention. Did you do that in the first game, or was that part just added?
Re: M50 Apocalypse Meme Redux
Well, with all due respect, your opinion blows.bozotheclown wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:46 pmIt may be your opinion that a mass claim is against "the spirit of the game", but in my opinion deliberately playing in a suboptimal manner so the game plays out a certain way is against "the spirit of the game".worcej wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2019 10:38 pmI was getting pretty annoyed in the first version of this game with how much of it was about trying to break the spirit of the game just to get a town win. I don't play Mafia here to just win no matter what - I play to investigate, push cases, and get reactions.
I hope you understand why, regardless of any alignment, I will not cooperate in a mass-claim on D1 because of this.
