I couldn't submit a preliminary choice because the choice is announced as soon as it is made, not at the deadline.

Why didn't you let the rest of us know this and ask for votes by a certain time so you could submit a choice before the deadline?

Initially I had intended to submit my choice this morning, but when I checked there was nobody with more than one vote. Then I expected to check again at lunchtime and make my choice then. I wasn't too worried because a random choice is about as good as what I would make. The vote was no guarantee that we would be voting for a townie, and in fact the mafia could easily manipulate the vote anyway since there was no consensus.

You were not concerned that failing to enter a choice would make it look like you are mafia taking a chance on the random draw instead of confessing to a town who was the consensus choice?

The anonymous tip requires no player input, and is therefore given at the start of its operational phase.

Can we get a GM confirmation that the target is selected at random if no choice is submitted by the deadline? The setup does not mention this.

GM NOTE: In case the deadline for operations is missed, targets are randomly chosen, in order to prevent information loss. This was added at the setup draft but somehow removed in the setup post.

That's right. The reason is this operation is considered to be done at the start of the game. After an operation's deadline is passed, it happens as soon as GMs see it. Until the operation's time comes, operators can set a target and change it. The first operations time is game start and therefore it's made as soon as it is recieved.

There was no consensus choice, if I was mafia I could have chosen anyone I wanted since nobody had more than one vote last time I checked the thread. There was a consensus choice by the deadline though, and we have no way of knowing when you really last checked in. By not choosing the consensus choice, you look suspicious.

I did not say anything about whether you were worried about a random choice. If you are mafia, I doubt the choice was really random, as the best mafia play would be to submit a teammate as your choice right at the deadline so you could claim it was random.

If town, I would expect him to choose damo.

If mafia, I would expect him to choose a mafia teammate at the deadline and claim it was a random choice because he missed the deadline.

Does anyone disagree that these were the best options for town and mafia?

However, be aware that for any orders sent in before phase adjudication, the results will be processed as instantaneously as possible, before the start of the next phase.

That should be enough proof. If I had submitted a choice it would have been processed before phase adjudication, not simultaneously with it.

xorxes and yuuki, are you OK with a majority vote determining your targets?

I would like to see a vote here for sure. Not sure if it's the smartest thing for me to let mafia influence this vote though. I was thinking about just doing it randomly by rolling some dice.

Being okay with a group vote on confession but not on secret Intel is sus.

The strength of the group vote method is to see if you'll agree to go with the group's decision before you know the outcome. Saying there's a possibility you'll just yolo your secret Intel target regardless of the vote nullifies the strength of the group method.

Since there has not been any objection yet to voting for the xorxes and yuuki targets here is my vote:

xorxes confesses to rdrivera
yuuki targets brainbomb and rdrivera

I'm in an interesting position here bcz I know I was ultimately the decision for xorxes' confession but I am able to look back and see the votes leading up to that.

I don't think rdrivera is a good target for early investigative powers because of the flip chance others raised in the thread earlier.

@bozo, in the event that you don't raise this later, why did you pick rdrivera?
