Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
You were widely townread before that, but some people were supicious and the longer you stayed alive the more suspicious you would become. Quitting the way you did was clearly not possible as scum though.
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
I understood that anyone would kill the bodyguard in that case, not just rd, although rereading the role it is not that clear. I did the first kill because I was least likely to be roleblocked (because of the Survivor claim). I think rd did do the other kills.Vecna wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 10:09 pm
Regardless, why on earth did scum not use Rdrivera to do all nightkills? The scum gladiator would still kill the bodyguard, even if it protected their target. There was nothing town could to to save Worcej and other PR's, so that definately was a major tactical mistake.
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Would only allow myself to rand scum if I get to be in a team with Vecna, xorxes and e.m.c. They seem to have that necessary confidence to be scum and act normal in public thread. The way xorxes came to save/backup Neph was really cute
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Vecna and xorxes have the 'if they are alive too long' curse.
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
I think this was a really great setup. maybe a little too swingy. Although the only thing id change is there being a 3rd party. You really shouldnt have to spend energy on trying to convince a 3p to join your side.
Nice job on emc for winning however. its never very fun to rand 3p.
Onto what was great.
the challenges system was brilliant. It made the game go faster, and people didnt get too overwhelmed by having multiple lynches each phase.
24/24/24 is really cool and works well for webdip. Id like to use that system again with some bb alterations.
And then the only issue with that is the bot. I dont think the bot really works as well for a non traditional multi lynch spread. the historical wagons on alot of the midday lynch challenges are not in the bot because it wasnt a phase end.

the small part I played was enjoyable. a little shocked how fast scum went down.
semi open setups and janitors make it less swingy. uncertainty of the truth of hardclaims, making some claims potentially able to be either align is good.
If 5 town can claim it means scum must kill a PR before N3 or the games practically auto

Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
You were one or two days too early. The fact that you still don't see that is fascinating. It almost cost us the game because it was too early.
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Also, it was pretty shocking that scum didn't counterclaim any of the roles. Survivor should definitely have been counterclaimed by someone from scum team. xorxes should had jumped on it given his early survivor claim.
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Think they did alright, yuuki. In a way, I'm glad they didn't do even better. We won and that's a special event.
Who knows when will be the next town win

Will you be playing again or was it a one time thing?

Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
I had sent a PM to the God QT about the mass claim thing. Basically, I wasn't sold on it, but I thought seeming vehemently pro-massclaim would:
1. Give me more information about Venca & Yuuki (both of whom I had doubts about all game)
2. Maybe give insight into scum (who I thought would favor the idea)
3. Keep me from being NK'd as I'm supporting somewhat anti-town play
IDK if it worked out that way in the end, but that was partially my reasoning.

Nein! 3rd party best role. It's more fun than town or scum, imo
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
Yep yep, will you play again yuuki? (to tem as well) it was pretty fun

Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
EMC and I are working on a setup for a future game (maybe M50, if I wind up getting it). We've got some fun ideas.
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
I'll hopefully be playing again if I have the time. Fun game, although I rolled scum together with Hosuke xD
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
A massclaim wouldve removed Percy, Worcej, Damo and EMC from the pool of suspicion. The only mislynchable people that wouldve remained were Ike and Carambola, if common consensus voting/determining a lynch or gladiate wouldve been used. It wouldve been a lynchpool of 6 people containing all four scum.
when I proposed it, we still had time to initiate 2 gladiates in the day. We couldve lynched 2 scum, or mislynch two town and have 4 confirmed scum left.
As a PR these things are always way harder to gauge because you dont have selfknowledge and the added poe elimination when you know youre a VT, and you know a strong townread has also claimed VT. I did. Jamiet did. When you have played with someone for years, you know when you can lock certain people as town.
Scum would never cc survivor, because theyre not immune to gladiates. This would result in an autolynch on scum, maybe involving having to trust EMC. I know a lot of people werent trusting off him. I did. Ive done enough gambits in my time to know he would not have fucked us over the first time. Simple people knowledge. Even now when EMC was put in a position to screw town over after scum had given him the gladiate, he did not.
If scum was smart enough to coordinate in that scramble and CC the adrenaline gladiator, they wouldve had to square off against you Yuuki. Everyone townread you - they wouldve died.
The best play was probably to CC the roleblocker. I doubt they wouldve thought about that, but in the case they do, you have a way to resolve that as well. You assign each roleblock-claimant a widely townread or towncleared person to RB. The person that fails to deliver is lynched.
Scum cc'ing wouldve been a big mistake. Their best bet wouldve been to all claim VT and hope they were lucky enough for us to have our gladiates miss the emperor.
I stand by that my plan was the best approach. We could not avoid to mislynch more people. It wasnt about which PR's died, it was all a numbers game. To lynch the vital scum PR's so they could not use the thumbs up/thumbs down nonsense.
Youre entitled to your own opinion ofcourse. It would be nice if you just tried to view things from the other perspective and not just try to win the discussion no matter what. Especially not since it became apparently clear on multiple occasions you werent even aware of some of the most important mechanics.
Re: MAFIA 48 -The Gladiator- GAME THREAD [HIDDEN]
I think mass claims work if you get total participation and yes it could've been great, but part of the problem is you have lurkers or people on weird timezones that did not participate as much as needed to pull it off.Vecna wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 11:24 pmA massclaim wouldve removed Percy, Worcej, Damo and EMC from the pool of suspicion.
