The Unholy Bargain

I have a thought that, while I don't think it could pass right now, perhaps could be a big deal to achieving some major political ground for both sides and making a lot of people happy (and some unhappy - a good compromise!).

Basically, I think that the left and right should make a compromise:

Universal Single-Payer Healthcare in exchange for Permanent 2nd Amendment Policy.

Left gets:
- Single payer healthcare
- Medical reform type stuff
- Medicare/Medicaid solution

Right gets
- 50 state conceal carry / Constitutional carry
- Silencers off restricted list
- Background check reform
- Further ban on any national-level firearm legislation

Thoughts?

Other niceties:
- Universal safe transport of firearm law
- Increased mental health care due to single payer

Oh, it's not the most likely thing to happen, but I think it would be a true compromise that would make both sides somewhat happy and somewhat upset, and probably would be a good thing for the future of the country overall.

I could live with this though I happen to be for both for single payer etc and the gun reforms you listed.

Mitchell has a point though. This may make both sides too unhappy for this to work in the long run.

Further thoughts...
Given the current state of politics in the USA, the extreme divisiveness, the refusal to compromise I think it's naive to think that the two opposing groups could ever negotiate fairly and in good faith, there's just not the goodwill, there's way too much emnity and distrust. The two opposing groups would both push to gain as much as possible for their own cause and minimise what they concede to the other side.
Plus there are other powerful vested groups who would oppose such a deal. The private health insurance companies would bitterly oppose the proposed health reforms.
All the current evidence strongly suggests that no significant reforms are possible within the USA's political system.
I would make the observation that if the (imho ridiculous) proposals​ related to gun laws were to succeed, then there will certainly be the demand for a significant increase in health & morgue services, treating the ever increasing numbers of gun violence victims.

You can see the lack of good faith in how Trump has backtracked on his gun control legislation statements from doing something to doing nothing. Then add his lap dog McConnell refusing to allow votes unless Trump approves in advance, even though that isn't a guarantee if a Fox News opinion show host objects.

Even Republican congressmen getting shot playing softball hasn't budged them.

I should make it clear that the political donations laws in the nation in which I live, Australia are far from ideal and that is not surprisingly something that both major political parties seem to agree on doing very little to change.
