You're right that this is huge and important news Jamie. I'm glad you brought it up. Normally I want to hear a variety of views on these developments, but on Trump's comments re: Gaza I, like you, don't really have an appetite for "he's just kidding", "it won't happen", or "even if it happens, it's not that bad because of historical precedent X", on this one. The US president doesn't get to threaten genocide as a negotiating tactic. His remarks are threatening an extremely tenuous ceasefire. I agree that those who voted for Trump, or who are eager to excuse his behaviour, really ought to do some soul searching on this topic in particular.

Trump's Gaza comments are bad, ugly, and despicable, but you can't lose your sanity over it and, to the extent you want to affect it in any real sense, you can't succumb to blind rage.
