It's going to be a close one, which feels a little dangerous given how many folks on both sides will have a hard time accepting the "wrong" result.

It's a bit like watching a World Cup final between Germany and Argentina. The satisfaction you get from watching one of them lose won't be anywhere near enough to offset the disappointment that the other lot won.

Euro 96 is the one that sticks most firmly in the mind, along (bizarrely) with Michael Schumacher. There's a general irritation that Germany does football better than us, and this is then combined with a bitter disappointment on those rare occasions that they don't and it feels like they've cheated us out of a proper competition. The overall effect is to generate a perception of German smug arrogance that is probably (but by no means certainly) imagined, that leaves you reduced to the level of a Welsh rugby fan.

While I wouldn't word it quite this strongly, yeah it's sad. It's not a matter of choosing which direction we go, but just how fast we get there.

curious what it was like for y'all at the polls. As a poll worker today, it was pretty chill (granted I was stationed in an elementary school in a pretty nice neighborhood in a firmly blue state so a pretty narrow experience)! How about you guys? Any difficulties? anything interesting y'all saw? or was it all smooth sailing?
