This is apparently not a new conspiracy but theres an actual one shared among millions of Trump supporters that the weather is controlled by Democracts. that there is a secret connection between chemtrails, and some program called haarp that actually generates controls and steers storms to hit Republican states. And the craziest part of this theory is that this has supposedly been widely used by every administration back to Obama. This theory is so widely believed among republicans that even Majorie Taylor Greene apparently has discussed the democrats being responsible for creating hurricane Helene and Milton.

Is this a trolling thing that Republicans just came up with or is this an actual belief?

I have a childhood friend who believes that small canisters of gas deployed via commercial jet engines are used to control the weather. This friend simultaneously doubts that the cumulative impact of all other greenhouse gas emissions have anything to do with climate change.

I cant claim to understand the science behind all of that but if this was something our federal government had that they actually use regularly; have they offered any explanation as to why only democrats would ever have used it?

Im saying if this exists; trump can openly confirm it and so can most of the other actual people in congress. If this were true; then Trump had access to it also and couldve been using it to spread wildfires in california or steer hurricanes north towards new england.

also republicans: yeah there exist machines which can change the climate and cause storms

(yes there is a misconception here between climate and weather, but still, the point holds that this is quite contradictory)

It's a small group to be sure, but the internet has (as it does) generalized it to republicans as a whole. I can't find a meme of it rn, but I distictly remember seeing several yt shorts including it and several on reddit. mtg had at least 1 tweet on.
