Daily news
I thought it would be cool to have a thread where we can share articles/videos on what is going on in the news and maybe even discuss it as long as it doesn't get too toxic. I know I read a lot and I imagine there are people on this forum who do the same. I also imagine that there are people from different parts of the world who might have interesting things to share that I likely might not come across.
It doesn't have to be political per se. I just like good/interesting articles.
I'll start with this one I read this morning on how this girl called the cops on her own illegal child marriage in India - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/id ... XgUN72ESR4
Feel free to share as much or as little as you want

Re: Daily news
It's from a few months back, but was the major crime story from the town where I grew up this year. I urge those easy shocked to make sure they are in a safe and supportive environment before reading the article.

Re: Daily news
Here's a good story from my neck of the woods- manufacturing heavy area that's fallen on hard times gets a big boost by finally building submarines again. Eastern CT had essentially become a forested industrial graveyard. https://www.courant.com/business/hc-biz ... story.html

Meanwhile, in Somerset...

One of many shocking stories this week, including a woman with a swollen hand who had to have her wedding ring cut off, a massive fire involving 12 tonnes of hay, and a fat woman who is no longer wheelchair bound because she's not quite as fat as she used to be. Oh, the humanity!

Meanwhile, in New York:

"PATCHOGUE -Long Island Rail Road employees in 2018 made 50% more in overtime than the previous year, according to the fiscal watchdog group See Through New York, sponsored by the Empire Center.
That includes one now-retired, 30-year worker who made more than $340,000 in overtime, on top of their salary."
