It's either taking the blue pill so far as to slide into hyperreality, or to take the red pill, realising that everything you have been told is fake. Both sides use this term.

Wherever the usage started, it has become an epithet, insult, scapegoating tool of the ultra right these days to defame their left wing opposition, the revisionism of what woke means is an effective propaganda tactic.
Perhaps best used in "Dumb Woke Sciences" as a justification for ignoring reality, knowledge, wisdom, culture, Art, literature and embracing ignorance.
