I want to start a game with my friends, but when I send them the link to my game, there is no option for join. What gives?

Forget it. We couldn't figure out how to join, so we moved to backstabbr instead.

So sorry it didnt work for you. the join option is found under the map.

Well, if 7 people cound't figure out how to simply join a game, that's probably a bad UI design.

But aye... the beta system seems more... convoluted.

If you want to play the regular game, with the fancy map, you can't join. There is no button.

I don't even see how to revert to the old map to enable the join button.

"Account ▼" --> "Settings" --> "Dropdown menus" (under "Default map UI:") --> "[Update]"

Part of the confusion is that there is a separate URL for the same game in the old user interface vs. the new user interface. For example:

https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=1049411
vs.
https://webdiplomacy.net/beta/?gameID=1049411

This is very badly designed and not at all user-friendly.

Are there any plans to fix it?

When I try to replace by "beta" URL with "board.php", I always get redirected to "beta".

You literally can't play fancy version of Diplomacy map with your friends.
