Also, given that rankings will probably change over the next couple months I wonder whether it really make sense to keep updating the list so diligently with every new sign-up.

On scoring, I'm not only ok with it, I strongly prefer it.

As to updating the list, my personal strategy is to update my exact rank whenever this thread isn't visible at the top of the forum. I have an agenda.
