1 v 9 Diplomacy Game Idea
So I have an idea for a Diplomacy game. This is just an idea so if it will work or happen I am not sure.
So basically we have an anonymous Modern Diplomacy II Game, but one of the players is secretly an extremely talented player who is an expert at the game. The goal of the other 9 average players is to eliminate the expert (if they do then all alive players would win and draw), and the goal of the expert is to solo.
I’m not sure how this would even work, but I am posting this in case a few players find this to be an interesting idea.

So basically a game of the mafia, but everyone is trying to kill each other in hopes of killing the right person?

I think its an interesting concept bc it incentivizes the average players to turn on each other so that they get more in the draw, while they also try to make sure the expert doesn’t benefit.

I know this arrangement as Barbarians at the Gate from https://riseofnations.fandom.com/wiki/B ... t_the_Gate
Except the idea here seems to be that others don't know who to defeat, but it will likely come out soon enough anyway.

Well it would be unfair if it was just a plain 1 v 9 game, no matter who the one is. Adding the unknown makes it interesting.learnedSloth wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 9:03 pmI know this arrangement as Barbarians at the Gate from https://riseofnations.fandom.com/wiki/B ... t_the_Gate

Yes, the game would be anonymous. Tweaks to the idea could be made if necessary.

Of course. Anonymity is the only advantage that the expert can get as long as this game mode is unsupported. Usually the odds would be evened with severe handicaps instead, so this is slightly different.CaptainFritz28 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 9:06 pmWell it would be unfair if it was just a plain 1 v 9 game, no matter who the one is. Yeah this game would probably have to have a moderator who would make sure everything went according to the rules and stuff that would also know who said “expert” is.

Oops, sorry. I misread "idea" in your earlier reply for "problem." Not sure why. My apologies.learnedSloth wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 9:23 pmOf course. Re: 1 v 9 Diplomacy Game Idea
Yeah its a wirk in progress. Maybe two experts to balance it out. Not sure any good player would even bother though

Without knowing the peculiarities of the Modern II variant, I'd imagine that somebody could do it just for fun. His winning strategy would be basically fooling others until he can curb stomp remaining players.JustAGuyNamedWill wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 3:42 pmYeah its a wirk in progress. Re: 1 v 9 Diplomacy Game Idea
Exactly. It also limits the overpowered nature of the regular players by forcing the remaining regulars to draw once the pro is eliminated. This incentivizes them to turn on each other, while also trying to weed out the expert.learnedSloth wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 4:49 pmWithout knowing the peculiarities of the Modern II variant, I'd imagine that somebody could do it just for fun.
