Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
That’s f%&#’d up.
Isn’t there a rule about respecting other people on this website, I find it reprehensible that anyone would want to bastardize my (or anyone else’s) game by commenting publicly on it. I ask the public show a bit of respect, even if webDip doesn’t explicitly “require“ it.
I believe in games being played on their own merits, by the 7 people actually in the game, based on the press and moves submitted in that game, WTF is zultar’s email again?!
Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
With due respect to jmo, I think it's a question of etiquette rather than site rules. Kibbitzing can be fun but it doesn't walk a fine line and, as you can see, most people here have held off on doing anything to influence the game.
If someone in the game doesn't want it, I'd ask that people hold off. MM has (delicately as always) stated that he doesn't want kibbitzing for his game.

Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
What is "peanut gallering"? Is it a verb as implied earlier, or a noun as implied later? And, more importantly, meaning either way?

Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
Spectating and commenting on the game, or conversing about it with others who are also spectating, as it is ongoing.
Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
You're allowed to comment publicly, but should you?
I feel like I would want the players to agree to public commentary before it happened- sometimes there's things that you can only see if you're not in a game- and I wouldn't want to be playing a game against the whole forum unless I signed up for it*.
On the other hand, these are public games, and sometimes a spectacle, so they're fun to watch and speculate about.
(I did once sign up for that game and it was a good time)

Also my game has made me want to start several forum threads.
As a wise man once said "I'm going to go on the internet and find people who agree with me".

Why is everyone else so calm about this super critical issue? Where’s your passion?!
FTR - All issues are super critical!
It’s okay. Just take your ball. Slam it into your mitt. Make your pitch. If anyone doesn’t like it, work it out like two rational adults:

* - That was supposed to say place the ball gentle into your mitt, not slam it, f$@#’g auto-correct...
Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
I mean...there's always the option of running peanut gallery in a separate place - like how mafia has the god thread - where the participants can see it later after their game is over. That way, the commentators get to comment, the players don't get unduly influenced, and can have fun reading it post-game? (my preference and two cents lol)
Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
I wanted to do that for the spectate game feature - maybe a separate game tab for spectators that isn't visible to the players.
I also thought about allowing anyone to post in global in any game #whatcouldgowrong.

When I see public chat in this game, I regret it is not public press game :)

I had no idea there was camping at Tremblant. Sounds like a trip worth taking.
Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
Here is an update on where these games are:
GR1 (https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=322126) Spring 1905. Germany topping, all 7 countries still in.
GR2 (https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=321963) Finished. 4-way draw among Germany, France, Austria, Italy.
GR3 (https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=321964) Build 1906. France and Russia topping, Austria and Germany out.
GR4 (https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=322027) Build 1904. Austria topping, all 7 countries still in.
GR 5 (https://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=322028) Autumn 1904. Austria and Germany topping, all 7 countries still in.
I'm finding this 2-day phase dreadfully slow, but really enjoying my game. I hope the rest are too. Thanks again to Yonni for organizing!

Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
Yeah the camping is amazing, great nature park, oldest in the province!
Fucking cold in october though, wouldnt recommend to anyone not equipped with good socks and good fire-starting skills.
Re: Ghost Rating Challenge
We need a replacement France in game 4. Is there any interest in taking it over? It's still a viable position.
