Clarification
In the Ancient Mediterranean can a fleet in Baleares be used to convoy an army? On the variant homepage it is written that a fleet can be used for convoy so I need clarification.

Special rules/information:
Differing from the rules of the original variant, a fleet occupying the Baleares may not be used to convoy an army using the normal convoy rules.

Re: Clarification
I'm going to get ahead of this next question: Can an army in Baleares move to Tarraco or Saguntum and vice versa?

Not without a convoy.ChippeRock wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 2:32 pmI'm going to get ahead of this next question: Can an army in Baleares move to Tarraco or Saguntum and vice versa?
Re: Clarification
If there is an army in Baleares and it is dislodged then will it be disbanded automatically? Or can it retreat via convoy?
Re: Clarification
The order tool permits an order of A(SAG) to BAL WITHOUT A CONVOY requirement.
will this go through?
will this go through?

Re: Clarification
That's an unfortunate quirk of the system. This move needs a convoy, otherwise it won't go through, regardless of what the order tool says.

Re: Clarification
Indeed.
If it would be possible for an army to move by convoy from A to B, then the system will allow you to order the army from A to B, even if you don't also order a relevant fleet to provide the convoy.
The army's order would be a valid order, but would fail.

Re: Clarification
Now i'm a bit confused... i don't have the possibility to test the specific case right now, but let's recap:
If a convoy from A to B is possible, which means: 1. there is a sea path linking coast sector A to coast sector B, and 2. there is a fleet (from any country) in every sea sector on that path - then the move order is valid and the order tool should offer it; whether the fleet(s) involved receive the corresponding convoy order(s) or not is irrelevant as long as order validity is concerned: it's like when you set a support order, and then the supported unit does something different - the order is valid, but it just fails.
The order tool on the other hand is expected to show that move with the "(via convoy)" specification.
So if the option is "The army at A move to B (via convoy)" this is perfect; if instead the option is simply "The army at A move to B", or even "The army at A move to B (via land)", then there is something wrong

Re: Clarification
I remember looking into this once, but I can't remember what I found out. Obviously not enough to warrant a change.
