Peregrine Falcon has agreed to step down from the mod team. Please join me in thanking him for well over a year of service to the site and congratulate him on finally seeing the light and regaining his freedom after all this time.

Yep, I’ve “agreed to step down” from the team.
It has truly been an honour working with the rest of the mods. Although it's sometimes hard to see, this site wouldn’t be the same place without all their work. Thanks to everyone for making this community the place it is.

I’ll never forget being the only two users not affected by the infinity war and having to go back in time to undo the acts of Thanos. It’s a shame everyone’s memory was wiped in the process but we will always know what we did.

Peregrine Falcon has agreed to step down from the mod team.

I think sometimes it is easy for moderators to forget that to everyone else something like this can make it seem like someone was asked to leave and agreed. The opposite was true here. PF was an outstanding moderator who contributed in multiple ways, from handling cases, to suggesting new moderator and site improvements, to submitted PR's to GitHub with text changes and fixes that were accepted and now show on the site. He helped mentor new mods and constantly took the time to offer a well reasoned opinion in the more tricky moderator decisions that faced the team. He has a standing invitation back to the team if he ever finds himself with the time/desire to return. A huge thank you for everything that you've done for the site!

And as such, PF is the first recipient of the "Site Contributor" rank which will be clarified more in the future, but will be awarded to people who go above and beyond in contributing to the site.

They would have had to fire me to fire PF, and even if they finally wizened up and fired my dumb ass, they wouldn't have been able to justify firing PF. He was one of the best mods we've ever had here.

The Site Contributor rank is a pretty broad idea that we came up with to award those whose contributions don't necessarily fit cleanly into another category (such as Code Contributor). We're working on defining some parameters for this rank, but since its purpose is to more widely encompass what we can't place elsewhere, it will take some time. PF is more than deserving of the rank, though, so we made him our first recipient. We'll be able to clarify it more and hopefully establish the confines for our other contributor ranks as well as we grow our list of people deserving recognition.
