Team chess: game 3
Let's see if there is enough interest to do another round of team chess (after the two from a year ago).
Rules and procedures:
1. Six to eight players, randomly split in two teams (one for white, one for black), will take turns for each move.
2. There is no strict rotation on the order each team's players make moves, other than no player is allowed to make consecutive moves for one color.
3. This is open to all skill levels. The only requirements are knowledge of how the pieces move and standard notation. Please do not attempt any illegal moves.
4. The game will only be agreed as a draw if there is a majority of players in both teams who agree to draw. (Of course, draws by other methods, such as threefold repetition, are fine.)
5. No cheating using chess engines.
6. We will keep track of moves by simply adding one half-move at a time to a running scoresheet. Example:
1. e4
1. e4 e5
1. e4 e5
2. Qh5
Ideally, someone can occasionally post a picture of the current board state.
I don't care how good or not-good you are: as long as you know how to move the pieces (along with how chess notation works), you are welcome to play. I have done this before in graduate school; disparity in abilities lead to some pretty hilarious results.

It seems that there is a superfluous amount of interest. What would be interesting is if anyone would be interested in another game of team cheese…Spartaculous wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 3:32 amLet's see if there is enough interest to do another round of team chess (after the two from a year ago).

Re: Team chess: game 3
maybe we could run a chess tournament if there's enough interest

Re: Team chess: game 3
although this wouldn't account for skill disparities the same way team chess would

Re: Team chess: game 3
But in honesty I would be interested in a chess tournament. (Even if I place last :P)
