M 1029: The webMafia Olympics game 1 SPY VS SPY
Welcome to Game 1 of the webDipMafia Olympics!
In this game, all regular webDipMafia rules apply… other than where noted or altered or commented on below.
THANKS FOR SIGNING UP.
A BLARING BLAZE OF TRUMPETS
Spy vs Spy… During a Cold War Olympics The Cold War between East and West simmered warmly during the Olympic Contests of those years. The Olympics were recruiting grounds and competitive grounds for agencies such as the C.I.A. and the K.G.B.
Regular webDiplomacyMafia rules are in play, other than noted below.
In this game, we have two Mafia Teams. They are Spies, and the Team goals are to survive and to eliminate the opposing Spy Team. They will accomplish this by DayKills (voting), NightKills (when they have a factional NightKill power), and recruitment.
Voting: Every player, no matter the faction, is required to vote by the End of Day. A No-Kill result is legal.
Spy Night Actions: Each night, the Mafia Teams choose one of two actions. They may NK, or Recruit. They MUST perform one of these actions.
Night Kill: ONLY the mafia Spy Team that has more members than their opponent mafia Spy Team at the beginning of the Night phase, will have a factional Night Kill available. This kill is not performed by an individual.
Recruitment: At night, the Mafia Team can choose (by majority) any other player to recruit to their team. Unlike the NK, this action is performed by an assigned Team member, which MUST be the original Spy. This recruiting may NOT be declined by a town player. If a member of the OTHER mafia Spy Team is recruited, the attempt is unsuccessful, and the recruited player learns the identity of the recruiting player.
Posting Minimums: There is a posting minimum of three posts per day.
All players MUST cast a vote by the end of the day. Unvote is not a legitimate vote. No Kill IS allowed.
The town wins when both Mafia Spy Teams are eliminated, or nothing can happen that can prevent this.
A Mafia Spy Team wins when town AND the opposing Mafia Spy Team are eliminated, or nothing can happen that can prevent this.
There are 8 townies and 2 spies… one on each of the Mafia Spy Teams.
(IF a mafiaSpy attempts to recruit a member from the other team, NOTHING happens. Although the player on the receiving end will be informed of the attempt, AND the recruiter’s identity. Town is NOT informed.)
Competitors List
1) yoyoyozo
2) bonatogether
3) brainbomb
4) bozotheclown
5) ghug
6) Hamilton Brian
7) Col7by
8) Haze with a Z
9) Spirit of the radio
10) DiplomacyandWarfare
The Order of Night Activities is: RECRUIT, then KILL.
Do NOT post until 5 pm EST. Then go ahead and post, even if the GM has not said the games have begun.
Here is the Early Spy Information Gathering Tool… it is an old floppy disk computer. It does NOT have any crowdstrike IT.

Re: M 1029: The webMafia Olympics game 1 SPY VS SPY
Spy vs Spy at the Olympics
During the Cold War, there were two big hitters in the espionage game. Obviously, many nation/states had Intelligence Organizations. But most of them sided with either the US or the USSR. . The two Agencies were very active. The CIA, who taught the KGB everything they knew, and the KGB, who taught the CIA everything they knew. And a war raged. The Cold War was not so cold for spies, spy organizations, and friends of spies.
The Olympic Games were competitive. But they were also political. They were also opportunities for Spy-type activities.
The two spy groupings are at war in our game-world, too. Each of them are actively recruiting, and very proud of their heritage. But the common athletes are sick of being used as a battleground.
So the game begins… townletes, vs spies vs spies.
THE GAME HAS BEGUN.

bb, sit me on your knee and tell me a tale of webdip mafia since I last played...
Re: M 1029: The webMafia Olympics game 1 SPY VS SPY
Probably the most fascinating tale young spirit, is the tale of the game after you last played: M85. The entire mafia team conceded the game to a mass claim mecahnic oversight. 5 mafia resigning the game by day 3.SpiritoftheRadio wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 10:35 pmbb, sit me on your knee and tell me a tale of webdip mafia since I last played...
This story is probably wilder than M87 where there were two mafia teams, each with 3 people left alive, vs 6 town. So it was 6 v 3 v 3 and I tried to claim cop on Will, and he of course was also a cop. So I decided to just claim scum and try to talk team 2 into forcing a tie with us to certify town had no path to winning.
and instead both scumteams proceeded to lose and town regained majority.
the overall record since you last played is not that lopsided actually its 3-3 now in regular games if you go by only last 6 regular games.
mafia won a mini in there with dip and war during that span but town won a mini where they caught Hamilton and ghug, rivera surviving to the end as usual and then he got caught too.
also, Objection: Calls for a narrative answer

Dang, almost got you to step away from your lawyer bit. Oh well, there is always page 2.
Interesting tales, were you town in the 6v3v3 game? I love the idea of claiming scum to stoke mistrust in the opposite mafia teams. This is my first game I've ever played in with more than one possible mafia team. I have run a couple werewolf games with vampires or dracula stuff going on, but these new dimensions are neat. I can see why extra power roles weren't super necessary here.
In other news, I have amassed a sizable cult of irl blood on the clocktower players, which has largely been satisfying my social deduction itch as of late. I got a job though and will be moving soon, and then brain boy came calling on discord and I remembered my internet social deduction sociopath family and here we are <3

Holy shit, that was high effort. And good, even for k-pop.
I wish I had a cat to talk about. If I had a dog, i'd name them Kepler. Both because I do the physics stuff but also because on an episode of the Dollup they said Johannes Kepler liked to be tied up and called a dog. He and Tycho Brahe had a party moose that they would get drunk on fun occasions. But once, they lent the party moose to a friend and it got too drunk and fell down some stairs and died.

I was mafia in the multi scum game. and my move was the mistake of the game, but there were other mistakes. also town had like 7000 cops in that game so we were fucked.SpiritoftheRadio wrote: ↑Tue Jul 23, 2024 12:41 amInteresting tales, were you town in the 6v3v3 game? Re: M 1029: The webMafia Olympics game 1 SPY VS SPY
yeah that story is less impressive if you were also mafia, lol, but mistakes like that are usually fun. You've done that type of stuff and recovered in the past if memory serves.
You just want to me to pick you for spy team, don't cha brain?
Would you like that? We move the entire convo into discord and leave the thread barren, foresaken, with no one but Darg to shake his head at our weird convos? We sing songs at each other all night, shit post all day. The dream, as true as anyone has ever known.

Re: M 1029: The webMafia Olympics game 1 SPY VS SPY
As a side related note, I still remember MAD magazine pieces I read from the 70s. Rosemary's Baby spoof was funny because they kept calling it Tannis.
And I loved the Spy vs Spy Nintendo game as a 20-something. Hard but I enjoyed it.
