is this character from science fiction or fantasy story?
Yes.
Clarification: Does "story" imply a written form of media, or would (say) a fantasy film count as a fantasy story for the purposes of this question?
on my end, I meant any medium, films, tv shows, written works, etc.

I interpreted "story" as meaning any kind of story, so a film is possible.

Does this character suffer significant memory loss in a way significant to their story? (NOT "Lost a memory of what happened during one day in one episode, which was never relevant again". I am talking about memory loss important to the character and their identity.)
The way this is phrased, I think I have to pass, for somewhat silly reasons.

Was this character first introduced before 1950?
If yes, well, I haven't heard of this character before, but it seems like Orlando checks a lot of boxes (especially the lifespan one), so that will be my free guess.

So either it's not a character or the character doesn't have a story. But they are a character according to an answer to a different question.
Edit: or memory isn't a thing in this fictional universe for some reason, maybe time travel-related

I missed another passed question: the memory one.
Also, to clarify on the lifespan question, I can't actually determine how long this character canonically lives, but they certainly have the ability to live much longer than a typical human. Incidentally, I almost passed on the human question, but I think "yes" was the correct answer.

No. Certainly not originally, and I don't think they have appeared in one either.

Yes. Assuming "American" means "from the United States" here.
