is this website-tech company a search engine (ie.google, firefox, duck-duck go, etc.)?

My wife saw me playing this and wants to play too. She has a guess in mind. So I'll ask, is the company in question considered to be social media?
Re: 20 Questions Game 195
Not social media, no. I welcome her to the game though!Spartaculous wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:56 amMy wife saw me playing this and wants to play too. She has a guess in mind. So I'll ask, is the company in question considered to be social media?

Good to know. No. One question remaining. Get your free guesses in if you haven't already. I wouldn't be surprised if someone got it.DarthPorg36 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 2:06 pmUn-free guess, but I like this one. Chad Hurley, former CEO of YouTube

I am a bit hesitant (because of the "business leader" bit), but I will go with Jimmy Wales.

I know it's a bit ambiguous, but I'm pretty sure nonprofits still count as businesses, so it was hard to justify anything other than "yes" on that one. And there is also Fandom (formerly known as Wikia).

The first major business he launched was a for-profit website called Bomis.Com which mostly featured softcore pornography.

Hominidae, I think that you must be a very interesting person in real life. You always come up with the most fascinating characters to guess. I am happy that I *finally* got one of yours. (My happiness is mixed with a twinge of disappointment - because Jimmy Wales is actually in my phone's note containing my list of future 20Q targets.)Hominidae wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 3:48 pmWe have a winner!Spartaculous wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 3:34 pmI am a bit hesitant (because of the "business leader" bit), but I will go with Jimmy Wales.

Also, since my wife was helping me last night, I will take a moment to announce that she just accepted a tenure-track assistant professor job literally yesterday! Hooray!

Thanks for asking! She studies biomedically-relevant chemistry using computational techniques (read: supercomputers).
Also, I'll note that a few of my previous Twenty Questions choices (not Knuth!) have been based off of her background and interests.

I like to think that I'm interesting in real life. Not sure if I actually am. I enjoy your choices as well.
