I guess to give a shorter simpler answer, giving a pass to people who are suspect solely because they flipped early last game is much different from giving a pass because you see some reasons to townread them and aren’t sure about the suspicious things they’re doing. The first one essentially acknowledges that they should be flipped but asks for mercy. The second one acknowledges that they maybe shouldn’t be flipped

Wait no pyx shouldn’t be in the top pile

So flip Jamie and pyx and that’s my list

I think Eden scum slipped there. ##vote Eden. I’ll let you decide for yourselves without me spelling it out.
Au contraire, I think you should probably spell out whatever you’re saying very simply and straightforwardly because I’m totally lost as to what you’re getting at and pretty confident I could straighten it out if I knew wtf you were on about
Oh this is scummy though.

Ok. What do you think it means that I’m willing to give people a pass today? Why does it mean I’m confident in my reads?
At the time you posted that we should be kinder and not flip people who flipped early last game, worcej (who didn’t flip at all) and bozo (D1) were lead wagons, and voters were starting to move to pyxxy (N1).

I could not even begin to tell you who I’d be confident shooting outside of worc really, but certainly outside of worc/pyx/bozo (though I don’t think we should shoot bozo, I acknowledge enough people are hung up on him that it might be an acceptable if unsatisfying compromise vote). I’m nowhere close to confident enough in a pool of candidates that I could spare the luxury of not voting my top suspect and one of the few other people I have good reasons to suspect just to be “kind” to them. It strikes me that you must be very sure of the game state to afford the luxury of voluntarily passing up better shots to take worse shots just to be nice to the better shots.

Yup. Sounds like a scum mindset slip to me. That’s what I thought you were saying.

It’s the exact opposite wtf

I have a group of people I wouldn’t kill, a group of people I’m ambivalent about and would kill, and a couple of people I think are actively good flips. You said we should be nice and not touch the last group. I’m not confident enough in my understanding of the game yet to spare that

You are certain it's Bona, Pyxxy, Worcej.

100% certain?
Don't be silly Marty Fluminator
Well then you haven't solved the game, have you?
I don't know. Statistically unlikely but I may have.

I was stupefied by the initial argument

I’m doubly stupefied that my initial stupefied reaction was deemed a “scumslip”

I’m now triply stupefied that my incredulousness at the above sequence is being deemed scummy

Your claim is that confidence leads to an ability to bypass a scum read for a lesser read. That the game must be solved and I am voting people because I know they are scum.

The town mindset is different. I am confused. And I am voting people because they are giving me reason to suspect them. But I have little to no confidence. So I am willing to be generous and let people play a bit BECAUSE I have not confidence. I’m happy to vote other people exactly for that reason.

A town player would easily recognize this. Especially in another town player. A wolf who is focusing more on flipping may not.

It's not the incredulousness, it's the levelheadedness and desire to be given an opportunity to prove that irked me. I'm incredulous too.

I don't really think scum damo looks like scum Jamie though.

Ok that I actually follow.

I don’t approach the game the same way. I’ve played enough games that I wouldn’t expect or want that mercy directed my way and I don’t want to have to be constrained by a covert contract to show that mercy when I think I’ve got a catch. (And in any case my main target didn’t even flip last game, so what are we doing here?)

I don’t get why you think I’d even open this line of inquiry as scum when I know no one is going to be moved by your argument. This question only ever comes from town that wants to understand where his townread is
