Is any part of the story set in the our world? (E.g., this would include things like Harry Potter as well as things like the Narnia novels where the characters go to a different world.)

No.

From now on, I will wait until a question (other than a free guess) receives an upvote before answering it (unless there is a strong objection to this rule). This will hopefully encourage some cooperation between players and a more careful use of the last 6 questions.

Question: Is the character from a work on this list?

Chaqa, I think the answer to that pretty much has to be yes. If you want to narrow it down like that, I would suggest asking if it is from a work on this list under 1976 or 1977.

I will strongly object to this rule. I doesn't seem to have been necessary so far, it will likely slow the game, and I would prefer to avoid shifting from a guessing game where people might ask non-ideal question to some kind of interrogatory optimization exercise.

I'm fine burning a question to not take the chance, TBH.

Don't misunderstand me: I love a good interrogatory optimization exercise, I just don't want it to be part of Twenty Questions.

Maybe there should be a competing thread: Twenty Perfect Questions

Ok, it seems like you want to ask this question.

YES, the character is from the list of several dozen works that Balki provided.
