Which of the following lines of questioning, if any, shall we go for?
A: Created by author(s) from which country?
B: When was it created?
C: Physical characteristics of the creature, e.g. size, can it fly, does it live in the water, etc.

I think C might be a good idea, since we already know it's not a human, not an animal and it has fur.
None of those are valid "yes or no" questions.

You don't say??? That's why I called these "lines of questioning" and not "questions".

1. Not a real person who is now dead
2. Not a real person
3. Not human
4. Video game character *(not exclusively)
5. Has fur.
6. Character appears in a film or tv series
7. Not created by a Japanese company
8. Created before 01.01.2000
9. Not female
10. Not an animal
11. Appeared before video game in a different medium

Thanks for catching the missed clue, apologies for falling behind (damn my work).

And no, was not created by a Japanese individual either.

Oh I've got one:

Is this character presented as a hero / protagonist / goodie?

@Kak: It can't be Sonic the Hedgehog because he was created by a Japanese company. Plus obviously a hedgehog is a real kind of animal.
well from my source it was stated it was an individual, not the company, and the rest seemed to fit (not quite an animal, not quite a human either) with maybe a little bit squinting (hedgehog spikes for fur), but it was cleared anyway. Thanks VI for the clarification. (Also don't be sorry, work is on a high priority)

I think I found a good guess for the solution, but I want to wait for the answer of Jamie's question since that one is an antagonist.

The Gremlins would be a nice seasonal choice but let's wait for the hero question.

It’s complicated (both yes and no)

6. Character appears in a film or tv series
Is there a film or tv series, featuring this character, that was produced by The Walt Disney Company or its subsidiary? (If the film was produced by another company before it became a subsidiary of Disney, the answer would be no.)

Ok, that excludes Sulley from Monsters, Inc. and Chewbacca from Star Wars, which were my two hypotheses...
