1621 AD January 12 – Şehzade Mehmed, the 15-year-old half-brother of Ottoman Sultan Osman II, is put to death by hanging on Osman's orders. Before dying, Mehmed prays aloud that Osman's reign as Sultan will end soon. It seems that his dying prayer was granted to him. Osman died the next year!

1632 Two great philosophers were born this year, Locke and Spinoza. (they didn't die together, though, Spinoza died quite young at age of 44 where Locke managed to get to 72, a little rare for this time)

1634 Ferdinand II, Holy Roman Emperor, signs a classified order dismissing Albrecht von Wallenstein, the supreme commander of the Imperial Army. Wallenstein was prepared for this eventuality and had his officers sign an oath of royalty. This fails to protect him, though, from assassination.
