I still think this method of thought on bo is ignoring the fact he wanted to ensure a town died instead of possibly having a scum teammate go down in flames too.

The fact the move was 20 minutes earlier supports a scum read far more than a town read in my eyes.

With you and pyxxy on 3 each he could have afforded to wait if he were scum (ie let someone else untie it). The only person he could have been protecting if scum would be Bunny but that looks unnecessary.

bo (and you, but more on that in a second) behaved how I expected scum would after the night vote, which is why he gets that vote. Everyone else is null either through active ambivalence (you, Chaqa) or just because there's nothing much i can find to read. If it's not bo, I'd prefer lfischl or yav right now because they're useless and hard to sort, but I could be talked into anyone else.

I'll try. Just went reading through HB's old posts and other's interactions with him. Wanted to understand why he was NK'd. He'd latched on to yavu early as a possible scum slip about knowing your alignment.

Damo briefly engaged, but then it was largely dropped. But maybe they kill him to make sure it stays buried?

Why is bo at the bottom of this list?

As opposed to the top? Or why is he on the list at all?

He's on it because I'm having trouble following him. I just reread the EOD1 and he actually looks pretty good there. But something has just felt off on his tone; especially when pushed at all. Hence the >> suggesting it's farther down the list than just a single step.

Think about it this way – if I am a Townie, why has no Mafia voted for me so far? Clearly because I am one of the the lest-advantageous Townies for them to unveil (for whatever reasons). Maybe I'm new so they don't see me as a threat. Or maybe I said some things that they don't want verified as sincere.

Either way, the binding vote would be more effective. But this feels as good as Plan B as any.

Well, I already got talked out of my self-sacrifice plan. But to answer the question re my original thinking, it depends on "why play the game". I can tell you how I play poker:

- I care that I made the right call.

- Sometimes I make the right call, but the opponent catches an inside straight draw on the river. I am still super happy with myself. It's not about winning the pot, it's about "I made the right decision at the time".

- Other times, I make the wrong call, but now I catch a lucky break. And folks are all like "why are you so upset, you just won a huge pot?" Because I made the wrong call.

Thinking In Bets by Annie Duke is an amazing book on this.



I care whether or not I guess correctly. Now, convincing the rest of the town with the myriad personalities and related unknown variables involved. Yeah, there is some fun psychology involved in that. But also a metric ton of effort. So I give it a fair try, post my reasoning, but I'm not going to keep hammering on it, put unintended. I treat others' reactions to my arguments as more akin to luck in poker.
