If there was a pregame thread, it's possible they planned some stuff, but scum usually don't want to be performative because it's much more likely to backfire and look obvious.
I'd expect Bunny was just trying to get on the good side of a new player instead of a prearranged distance play.

Although Bunny would be the type of scum player to try to arrange something like that.

I'm sure you know him better than I do, but I'm still going to disagree with you. I think he doesn't make those kinds of plays with his teammates that link them together. It's too risky once either flips. Scum!Bunny does well by shading/distancing/bussing his partners and blending in with town, not by setting up plots to get his teammates towncred.

To be fair, I’ve never played mafia with him. All I meant is that it doesn’t seem too out of character to me to have a preplanned gimmick.

I am also going back through celaph's ISO, and I've so far noted that celaph hedged a possible scumread on teacon D1 and also brought up a willingness to get Yoyo D2 without voting for either of them. I also don't really like that Bunny repeatedly went out of his way to interact with celaph but that celaph never once reacted in kind - I feel that a newbie playing his first game here would be more interested in developing a relationship there.

I also find his hypo-jails to be very problematic and somehow that's never come up (why on earth was he picking Bona N1 and Vecna N2 when he hadn't given a read of any sort on either of them?). The fact that giving those hypojails was the only comment whatsoever that he made in the ~24 hours between Durga claiming and Durga revealing her second guilty was on Bunny looks very much like someone ducking under the radar, too.

I also note that very early on when he talks about his style of play, he suggests that he finds scum via PoE - Something which I haven't seen him attempt at any point in this entire game.

He objected to teacon's Jamie vote, which is NAI because it was objectively a bad vote, and he didn't vote for yoyo because Balki and Vecna discouraged that.

Your hypo-jails point is valid, though.

I didn't really get scummy vibes from him in his ISO (I think he displays a confidence that I wouldn't expect from scum in a group of new players) but he's not as new of a player in general, since he's played forum mafia on discord before, and maybe I was too swayed by his "going against the grain" type of play.

I still think damo is a much better choice for our DK today.

What do you find scummy about celaph?

I'm aware that this only makes sense when you know my alignment, but his D1 vote on me strikes me as a newbie not knowing whether to bus teacon or defend him by taking part in the mis-killing of ND. His vote for me seem to be a veneer of engagement without actually knowing what he was supposed to do.

Then his read list for scum was damo, Chaqa, Yoyo, balki, bona, Ma​niac. Obviously yoyo was scum. Was he right or was he listing him to gain town cred when he flipped? The others in his list seem daykillable. Is he trying to cover all bases and jump on a miskill?

I'm also interested in how a counter wagon plays out.

When celaph voted for you, the wagons were very spread out. ND, Jamie, teacon, Neph, emc, ghug, bozo and Durga all had 2 votes. I don't think celaph was picking between you and teacon at all. If anybody who voted you was avoiding the choice of either busing teacon or killing town!ND, it was damo.

Fair point. Obviously damo isn't new, but he could be avoiding busing or defending D1. And they could both be scum of course.

I voted for Yoyo early D2. I backed off after Vecna's comment that leaving Yoyo around may be beneficial if we can get a cop clear on him as scum doesn't want to spend a NK on someone that inactive.

Do you think I went out of my way to interact with anyone days 1 and 2? I don't think I developed much of a relationship with anyone (besides convincing bona to tunnel me apparently). Why would a newbie want to develop a relationship with someone?

I honestly didn't give the jailer picks a ton of thought. I remember feeling good about Bona around EoN1 and Vecna around N2 so I wrote them down. I could probably look through partially written notes if you want to know how I felt then, but I doubt it will change your mind much.

If you read my comment on PoE then you know that I said I normally do so playing blood on the clocktower. If you want me to quickly run through all the key differences, then I can. But tl;dr I think PoE works much better there then it does here. That's why I said I planned to not do that.

I don’t find Dano scummy. I don’t hate it, but much of the arguments for voting him I find non-alignment indicative. I think he would do similar things as town.

Also, I don’t buy the “let me go look at my notes” aspect of celaph over the last couple of responses

Stakes are a lot higher for him if he’s scum, right? If he’s town, not a big deal, he probably thinks he’ll be flipped some time either way.
