Re: XX Questions - Game CXXIX
I realize now that it's actually spelled Zimmermann, but I assume the guess still counts.

He didn't die of natural causes either!!
Stop wasting guesses on people killed in combat.

The person we are looking for is not a scientist.
Do you people even read the thread before randomly guessing?
I wonder if it's Ronald McDonald! Perhaps it's Barney the Dinosaur?

I agree.Octavious wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 2:03 pmSo we're after a Boche who somehow managed to survive the first show but played no meaningful role (possibly due to being dead) in the repeat performance.
I looked in my book of great Germans of the past and present, but the Red Baron has already been guessed and there aren't any other entries
So a famous old soldier from the east, like von Mackensen, or some politician or negotiator (best bet would be one of those in the armistice talks) like von Winterfeldt (although he was more soldier than politician).
I'd be inclined to clear up whether or not he was a politician... or alternatively ask whether he sported a ludicrous moustache (which seems to be around half of them)
QUESTION: Was he primarily involved in politics (rather than primarily known as a combatant?)

Paul von Hindenburg?
(I don’t think his father can be considered famous.)

Remember that he wasn't born in the east.

Should I assume that there is a typo here such that the question mark is supposed to go outside the parenthetical remark?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 3:05 pmI agree.Octavious wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 2:03 pmSo we're after a Boche who somehow managed to survive the first show but played no meaningful role (possibly due to being dead) in the repeat performance.

“ Hindenburg was born to a family of minor Prussian nobility in Posen.”

Remember, folks, that you're for somebody who is not generally considered to be left wing.

Re: XX Questions - Game CXXIX
To be perfectly clear, I do not count minor Prussian/German nobility as famous in their own right for the mere fact that they were minor nobility. Take this as a hint.

Actually, BrianBaru already asked the 20th question. So here's my final hint: he is primarily known as a combatant, but did get involved in politics after the war.JECE wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 4:02 pmShould I assume that there is a typo here such that the question mark is supposed to go outside the parenthetical remark?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 3:05 pmI agree.Octavious wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 2:03 pmSo we're after a Boche who somehow managed to survive the first show but played no meaningful role (possibly due to being dead) in the repeat performance.
