The golden brown temptation, crammed twelve at a time into their paper-cardboard home with that scandalous clear front packaging, teasing you like a Pahrump brothel worker?

Peeling away the cardboard where a bit sticks to the edge for you to scrape off with a finger a feast upon, foreplay to the main event?

And finally shoving the whole thing in your mouth like a carnivorous plant in the amazon, feasting as if no insect had approached in years.

Your eyes flutter and roll back, every surface of the cube-like bread soft, no crunch, just the delectable chew as you struggle to keep the entire thing in your mouth.

And then...you still have 11 more to go.

Would I do well to start with regular bread or a sourdough starter. I want to graduate to breads, I'm just working with desserts so far in my lockdown quest to be able to bake.

Sourdough is gonna give you two or three absolutely terrible loaves of bread before you get anything worthwhile, but at least for me it gets at what I love about cooking that I don't get with most baking. You have to repeatedly adjust your recipes by feel and desired outcome. It's also damn good once you get the hang of it.
