Re: Twenty questions, round 424
As far as I can tell we are at 18 questions, and we have 22.
I think Gene Roddenberry is a good guess, but I don't know what connection he has with this past weekend. Maybe I'm missing something obvious.
Was this person alive at the beginning of 2000?

Re: Twenty questions, round 424
This doesn't feel like one of my finest rounds as QM... it hasn't gone as well as I had hoped. I'm sorry; I'll try to do better in the future.
I will give an additional clue that he did win a major entertainment award (but you know not an Oscar).

Maybe we're just crap and asking silly questions, don't worry.Spartaculous wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 1:16 amThis doesn't feel like one of my finest rounds as QM... it hasn't gone as well as I had hoped. I'm sorry; I'll try to do better in the future.

Does this person have something to do with Westerns, or Country and Western style music?

This would be 22 I think so maybe Sparty can pause for a second on wondering so we can get our free guesses in, unless there are going to be more additional questions?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 5:59 pmDoes this person have something to do with Westerns, or Country and Western style music?

I have a guess but I've already used my free one.

I'll do the version of the ending where, instead of limiting everyone to five guesses combined, I will give everyone two guesses (regardless of whether or not you have previously guessed). I think that seems fair.Aristocrat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 6:17 pmThis would be 22 I think so maybe Sparty can pause for a second on wondering so we can get our free guesses in, unless there are going to be more additional questions?Jamiet99uk wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 5:59 pmDoes this person have something to do with Westerns, or Country and Western style music?

Re: Twenty questions, round 424
I'll guess the Armenian-American creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks, Ross Bagdasarian, who, although his first name starts with 'r', went by a stage name of David "Dave" Seville.
Born in 1919 in Fresno California, died in 1972.
He appeared in several well known films (in bit parts) such as Stalag 17, Rear Window, and Viva Zapata.
He wrote Rosemary Clooney's "Come on-a my house" (a song rejected by several labels beforehand for being 'too ethnic'.)
Most well-known for Alvin and the Chipmunks (although I couldn't remember ever hearing either of his names before, but who hasn't heard of Alvin and the Chipmunks? Oh probably anyone under 35...)

That is a *very* impressive guess on many, many counts. But it's not correct!Ernst_Brenner wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 10:40 pmI'll guess the Armenian-American creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks, Ross Bagdasarian, who, although his first name starts with 'r', went by a stage name of David "Dave" Seville.

(I had no idea that the original Alvin and the Chipmunks song won 3 (!) Grammys.)

Also, I would count any involvement with scripted television as involvement with film (see the many Alvin television shows, etc.).Spartaculous wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 11:05 pmThat is a *very* impressive guess on many, many counts.
