So I've been in two games as Town.
M49 where we got demolished... mostly taking ourselves out, but it wasn't even close.
Now this one, not quite fully opposite, but the puzzle seems to have been solved very quickly.

I have not yet, but since I plan to play again, I'm going to go back at the historical archives and see if I can learn anything more... Can anyone recommend which game they thought was a good balance (regardless of who won)?

It would have been funny after all that debate over massclaim and realizing that we couldn't due to the Assassin... to then have the Assassin killed first night.

For the record: I’m joining worcej in the “never mass claiming early” group. I totally understand that one should try winning by any means, but I don’t want to play that game at all.

Yeah, when the game is figured out just on mechanics it isn’t fun. I am just glad my reads (assuming the one on Prado is right) were better than normal.

I totally forgot about the bear trap. Add that to the list of ways town can mess with the mafias NK. The only kill we've had that's gone to plan is my hammer lynch on Kitsune.

Sure, I feel yet pain. But as I see it so far, until I get in the godthread, I think my drives made the biggest difference. I either was very clever in figuring out what team mafia was going to do, or I got lucky three nights. (Including the bad-for-town assissin save... I still made the right drive.) That's not imbalance. Although there was something you could have done every night after n1 to stop me.

*biggest difference* doesn't mean only difference. so many roles. So many connections and consequences. Mafia turned out to have an uphill climb. But it didn't necessarily have to turn out that way. Different folk in different positions might have us seeing an uphill battle the other way.

And the game isn't done... Although I don't think my choice here makes all that much difference.
