Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
Emilau: or send all our half orcs to hunt and fish the area.
Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
Emilau: I guess research sailing, build knaars, and fish. We still need wood.
Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
Melnir:
I havent been hired yet, but 16, 14 is 2 tiles away and has abundant stone. We can always trade commodities to the capital.
I can get you 3 wood for 1 stone.
Or 3000 gold for 1 stone.
I suggest you research mining and my men will do the rest.

Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
Further clarification of my proposed resource system has been requested.
Under my system, during the current phase, you would determine what your workers will do the next phase.
For example, I decided the worker actions for Phase 1 during Phase 0.
-20 hobbits are constructing 2 farms. This will be completed halfway through the phase (at UTC 9:00am on Thu. or 6:00am EST).
-80 hobbits are hunting on our tile 14,11 for half a phase.
-These 80 hobbits along with the 20 who were constructing the farms will begin working the farmlands once the farms are complete (this will translate to half the effectiveness of farming for an entire phase).
-20 half-orcs are constructing a laboratory. This will take them the entire phase to complete.
-50 half-orcs are harvesting wood for the entire phase on our tile 14,11.
-30 half-orcs are hunting the tile adjacent to us 14,12.
There is not a set amount of resources that you know you will be getting. You know you will receive food from working the farmlands, wood from harvesting wood, and food from hunting.
There are base rates for each action.
-Working a farmland provides .1 Food/10 workers
-Hunting provides .5 Food/10 workers
-Fishing provides .2 Food/10 workers
-Chopping trees provides .5 Wood/10 workers
I will roll a die to determine the effectiveness of the worker actions. Each race also has modifiers that affect the rolls.
For example:
-Hobbits are poor hunters. They receive a (-20) modifier to hunting. I roll a d100. You roll a 98 (an amazingly good roll), with a -20 for the modifier, for a result of 78.
So the 80 hobbits who are hunting for half a phase would return with 3.1 Food.
(Behind the scenes math: 78 Result from die changes base rate to .78 Food/10 workers. So .78*8= 6.24. For half a phase. 6.24/2=3.12)
-Hobbits are excellent farmers. They receive a (+30) bonus for farming.
You roll a 37 (poor roll) +30 = 67.
So for the 100 hobbits who are farming, they yield .6 Food.
(Mathz: 67 sets farming production rate at .13 Food/10. Half a phase. So .13*10 /2 = .6)
*Remember, food earned from farming is really just an added bonus. The harvest is where working the farmlands really pays off. Hunting is a good short term solution, but wildlife can become scarce due to overhunting.

... whoooOOOOoooooooOOoo oooOWWWOOOOoooooowoo... (wind still whispering about an early frost.)
Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
3 of our half orc workers wandered off into the marsh after seeing a strange arc of light.
Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
Okay @everyone , when I was scouting, someone found me named Olebew. He is a reformed Drow, who claims to stand against what the other Drow stand for, but has been wandering these lands because of the discrimination from others because of who he is. He's a scout though, and we currently have 0 specialist spots filled, so I asked him to come back. I'm sure his information of the surrounding area's would be really valuable, and at the least he could help us out to start off strong. Any objections?

Carrying a message from Falrin, a dove came.
Falrin wrote:Wed Sep 19, 2001 6:42 amAs I see, fish is an important food source in Narmor. I suggest building something on 14, 10 for fishing. Fishing provides good food and can balance our consumption if our population gets more crowded.

##Proposal 1.2.1 research Mining
If we are going to hire Melnir we are going to need this, still working out details with Avendi for this...

Please don't use H word (halfling) on this forum. It's racistly harming people's honor.

Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
Would you prefer normaling or perhaps vertically challengedling?
Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
##GM point of order:
If you use my system, you will have 100 of each hobbits (apologies if I've offended any hobbits in the past) and half-orcs. This is due to worker rates being in intervals of 10.

Also, ##Proposal 1.1.1 invite Lord Pavel Young to join the Barony
Lord Pavel 'Alfonso The Just' Young (Human, Male, King's Lord) Each phase Lord Young adds +1 pop and +1 luxury Art. He has many connections as a loyal supporter of King Thamrick. (Passive Traits: Secret) Atk 1 Def 3
He is willing to request a royal pardon for Avendi and for Falrin. If we invite him, we could ask that he bring supplies, weapons, ect with from the city if anyone has anything they didn't purchase before we left.

Rethanin: Barons, Baronesses, thank you for agreeing to bring me along with you on this endeavor. Though I may not yet be of age, I have been groomed to lead my entire life. I have watched and listened as my father, our King, has dealt with the burdens of leadership and experienced the joys it can bring. I hope that I will be able to assist you and will learn much from this undertaking. I know that it brings my father great peace of mind that I am away from the dangers of the capital and have a chance to found a Baronry loyal to the realm.
Of utmost importance, we must get to the bottom of Falrin's involvement in the murder of Jartoum. My father has him listed among his wanted criminals. Traveling with him for this past month, I have been conflicted. At first I looked upon him with disgust as a criminal, but as we continued and I saw him more and more, I began to see the commonality of our humanity. I do not believe we should continue to contravene the desires of my father. However, I have my doubts about Falrin's guilt. I beseech you, my Barons, to find a way to reconcile this matter.
Second, long have I heard tales of the cold winds of a Darmor winter. If we are to survive this winter, it is imperative that we have ample foods and work to establish better shelter. Otherwise, I fear we may not live to see the warmth and beauty of the Darmor spring.

Re: Fantasy Simulator I Official Game Thread
Ok, so I've talked to Melnir, he is willing to work first and take payment after. He can mine 1 unit of stone, take it to the capital and get back to us with 3 wood in 7 phases. However, he would require use of the wagons we used to get here. After talking with him it also seems like sending the 50 Half-Orcs to gather wood would take a very long time. I"m not sure what we should have them do instead, hunt as well?
