:D

Due to certain complications that have come up recently, although I can participate, I will not be able to host the next round. I will pass the role of QM to the first person who takes it, as long as they participated in this round.

Leibniz is a really fun pick! In some sense, the answer to "What is he primarily famous for?" is "Everything." Most people would know him for his contributions to developing calculus - which he did while his "day job" was working as a diplomat. Leibniz also was a very influential figure in the philosophy of his day - to the extent that his "optimism" that we are living in "the best of all possible worlds" was skewered a generation or two later by Voltaire in Candide (most notably in the character of Dr. Pangloss). He also was arguably the first European intellectual to seriously study Chinese philosophy. Oh yeah, he also developed one of the first library cataloguing systems.

Yeah it's difficult with a polymath. I had decided before any questions that I would answer yes to primarily famous for only to mathematics and philosophy. However missing "primarily" I would have answered yes to any number of topics.
