Re: Twenty Questions, round 442
(Numbered based on order answered rather than asked, since I mixed that up in the middle.)
FREE: Not a Garfield character
PASSED: first introduced in a work meant to be read
1,2,4,5,6,8,11,17. Fictional human created after Prufrock, first introduced after 1995 but not after 2000
3,15. Appeared in a non-documentary movie as the main character
7,10,12,13,14,16. First introduced in a movie that was nominated for Academy Award or Golden Globe* but not a best-picture Oscar, but not a comedy, and not first introduced in a book
9. Doesn't live in a world with supernatural powers
* Although the way this question was worded was open to shifty interpretations, like "one but not the other" or "one but not more", I interpreted it open endedly, as in "one or more of either type or both"... sorry if that was not your intention, Aristocrat.

Did the movie in which this character first appeared reach #1 at the box office in the USA before the end of 2000?
(You can use, for example, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_1996_box_office_number-one_films_in_the_United_States.)

Is the movie this character appeared in an action, fantasy, sci-fi, or horror movie?

No worries, I meant it that way (and IMO the way you interpreted it is the correct literal interpretation anyway)Ernst_Brenner wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 4:46 pm(Numbered based on order answered rather than asked, since I mixed that up in the middle.)

I count this as 19, so take those free guesses.

I don't think this can be it; The Truman Show was #1 at the US box office for two weeks.

Re: Twenty Questions, round 442
QM (and future QMs) - one thing that might help move things along is disclosing if you plan to offer a clue / additional guesses / etc. and at what point. If the answer is no, that’s cool, but if it’s yes, people might be holding back in anticipation of a future hint that gives it away.
FWIW I have no problem with people following the written rules and going back to QMs hosting for multiple rounds in a row if there are no correct guesses. Though it should probably be a hint to the QM to pick easier targets if it happens all the time and that QM wants to be hosting multiple rounds instead of being lenient (the last paragraph is not in specific reference to this round, just a general thought).

I am holding back because I haven't had time to trawl Wikipedia properly, not because I'm waiting for a hint. I think this should be solvable without a hint.

Re: Twenty Questions, round 442
I suppose I'll not call this a hint, but rather a correction, and in light of it, refund the free guesses taken so far, as well as add one question to the mix, since I'm correcting to a pass.
It is in response to this question:

Previously answered "no" but I will amend that to "pass".

Is this character live-action and portrayed by an adult man in their first appearance?
