Re: 20 Questions Game 409
I think this is where we're at:
1,3,11: Not a real human being, but also not a robot of some sort.
5: Humanoid or vaguely humanoid in shape.
9: Does not have superhuman powers.
2,7,12: Introduced after 1900, but before 1 January 1946
4,6,8,10,13,14: First introduced in a English language book, magazine, periodical, newspaper, comic strip, or other similar format meant to be read by its audience, but not a comic book or graphic novel, regular novel or novella. Not first introduced in a movie, tv show, or in theater. First published outside the US.
Passed questions:
Fictitious human?
Is at least one of its ancestors human?
Male?
Living being in the context of the work?

On second thought, we can rule out book as publication form; if the character has not been introduced in a novel, it stands to reason that the character has not been introduced in a book.

Re: 20 Questions Game 409
is The Hobbit a novel or no
not a question for the game just asking other players

Re: 20 Questions Game 409
No, although weirdly my first introduction to this character was in a comic strip of sorts. Not at all what this character is known for, though.
Yes, The Hobbit is a novel. Not counting this as a question.Red Neurax wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 10:27 pmis The Hobbit a novel or no

Is this character a mascot, political cartoon, folkloric figure, thought experiment, caricature, or urban legend?

Is this a question directed at me?
Yes.

Could this particular question be rephrased such that you would be able to give a definite answer? My thinking is that a character is either in a series or not, in fact your comment seems to suggest that the character appeared in more than one publication, but I am happy to concede that you have no way of knowing if it was introduced with the intention of being a series.Hominidae wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 2:30 amPass.Red Neurax wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 2:09 amwas this character introduced in a standalone form(not in a series of sorts)

You can try rephrasing it, yes. The nature of this character makes a lot of questions difficult to answer.Pepijn wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 9:37 amCould this particular question be rephrased such that you would be able to give a definite answer? Re: 20 Questions Game 409
Fair enough, I am assuming your point is that there are other forms of books, and saying it is not a novel does not necessarily mean it has not been published in a book, or series of books.

Did the author ever publish in the The Strand Magazine?
By my counting this is question number 18.
