I feel like I’m in the scene in the movie where the detective is connecting all the pins and strings on a bulletin. This is also assuming there is some connection between the targets.

B - Amend my free guess to Harry S. Truman

C - Born in Southeast Asia?

If yes - free guess - U Thant

D - Involved in the Civil Rights Movement?

If yes - Malcolm X

I think technically, I'm not supposed to let you have more guesses right now. But:

C: Correct!
D: Correct!

You have clinched the win with 3 points here. We'll see who can get the other two.

So, the letters so far are in alphabetical order, and in all cases the letter is the entire name.

Was A born in what is currently England, Scotland, or Wales?

Hm, so E has a Y or Z probably? The only person I can think of is Jay Z but he’s not primarily known for journalism/acting/film.

C: Correct!
I will go ahead and comment on my earlier comment: U Thant really should have won a Nobel Peace Prize in the mid-1960s, but the chair of the committee vetoed that award. In fact, they ended up not giving any awards in 1966 and 1967 because of this deadlock.

And later the UN named a different peace award after him apparently
