Is there a wireless technology or Frank Zappa piece that shares a name with this person?
I was trying to catch Harald Bluetooth and Rollo of Normandy with these, for the record.

If no, non-free guess: Stephen.

If no to that, Spartaculous can come in a few hours and guess it correctly.

I think this will be the key to figuring out the person. Why was this passed?

I suppose I should just attach the conditionals to this on the assumption that Bulgars are being counted as members of a Turkic tribe:

Free guess if no: Boris I of Bulgaria

Free guess if yes: Simeon I of Bulgaria

Yeah, I agree. At first I thought it was just to object to anachronistic descriptors of race, but idk now. My initial feeling was a Moor/Arab from al-Andalus, but Muslim was a no. Now I think we've established that the person is most likely a Magyar or Turkic individual, but I don't know any specific Magyar, Khazar, Pecheneg, or other early Turkic leaders. Then there was also a mention earlier of individuals with mixed-race parentage.

Wow, interesting pick (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boris_I_of_Bulgaria, described by one historian as "one of the greatest persons in history"), and a lucky guess. New game will be up soon.

As DreamTrawler pointed out in the next thread, this was kind of a joke pick related to the name Boris, but early Bulgarian history is really interesting. (Shoutout to the Bulgarian History Podcast, which I will hopefully get caught up with at some point.) I didn't anticipate being asked whether he was white, and I almost answered "yes" to that question, but I think that since the Bulgars are a Turkic people, it is ambiguous. I've always found the use of "white" to be a bit weird when dealing with that long ago, but I wouldn't have passed if I didn't think there was some legitimate question.
