I will invoke rule 10 here to ask a clarifying question to the QM:

If you had picked James Paul McCartney as your person and you were asked "Has an E in their full first name?", would your answer have been "Yes" or "No"?
If I had known about the James part (I did not): yes
Thank you for the clarification.

Is their date of death on or later than Jan 1, 1946?

16 questions, 4 more to go.
You’ve narrowed it down pretty successfully, so I’ll keep it simple. This is not a part of history I specialise in, I chose a figure that I knew and I figured would be more well-known amongst diplomacy players than Fayruz.

I have no free guesses left, so I'll ask this as a question: is it Lavrentiy Beria?

It has to be... I was choosing between him and Molotov earlier.

Correct!

For any of you interested in this sort of thing: I find the role of him in the Georgian and Abchaz public memory quite interesting, it’s not something I’m an expert in, but it’s the sort of thing I’d know about of the time I’d have on any given day wouldn’t be limited.

Thanks for a fun game Modderpoel!

It's kind of funny - two of the recent answers (Beria and Harold Holt) have made my "list" of potential people to use in future games - and I talked myself out of guessing both of them!

Could you explain this answer more fully?
Held ministerial rank during WW2 (ie in the US, British or German Cabinet; or the Soviet Politburo)?
Yes
Beria was appointed to the Politburo in 1946.
