I sense that I should offer some hint: first appearance in oral tradition.
Ah. Pretty old then probably. Born in what now is Europe?
If yes, did the legend originate in the British Isles?
Sorry, I've missed this one - no

May as well halve the playing field of options.
Greek?

Yes... but this distinction is not very informative. Greek mythology predates Roman by something like 1,000 years. So ontologically, all deities can be considered 'Greek', and for a millennium, they were exclusively Greek.
Practically all Greek mythological figures have their counterparts in Roman mythology. The character in question goes by her Greek and Roman name, and I will accept either.
Hint: my gut feeling is that she is better known by her Greek name, but her Roman name entered the English lexicon too.

Gaia?
I wanted to provide another hint that other generations of deities should be also tapped on, but I don't need it
Gaia/Terra it is!
My hesitation in relation to her birth was the fact that she
emerged from Chaos and she formed the primordial Earth which certainly showed a different configuration of the continents without developed Europe (Pangea, for example). But since these geological facts were not known to ancient Greeks, I just leaned towards the interpretation that Gaia, as a concept, was created in ancient Greece (forgive me this oversophistication).

Yes!
Would this exclude or include demigods?
These are actually two questions. Would you reformulate?
I was hoping that you would just clarify without counting it as a question.
